So, I just moved to the Kootenays in Canada. It’s my first time in a high volume snow location and I’ve noticed some people hardly get out of bed for 10 centimetre days whereas I’m stoked to have the conditions soften even if I’m not there early enough for fresh tracks. It doesn’t make sense to me. Those of you in big snow locales: does this happen to everyone? Or are there just a select few who can’t be bothered to shred on days with less than 20 cm of fresh?
You'll eventually learn that the absolute worst place to be in town on a powder day is the ski resort and the road up to it. Old jaded dudes like us know that we'd rather pull up at 11am the day after the storm and get front row parking and no lift lines.
