The research that goes into finding these zones and navigation knowledge are necessary costs of entry for this kind of stuff. It's what keeps people safe and reduces dangerous crowding. It's why the commercialization of Everest was a bad thing.
Yeah, it sucks that this could negatively impact marginalized people, but those are systemic problems that can't be solved at such a small level as backcountry skiing.

If you dont tell someone where a spot is because of their race, or income level, or age THAT is racism, ageism and classism. If you dont tell someone where is a spot is because you dont want it to get blown up, thats totally fucking ok in my book.

Some people try to make everything into a thing. Honestly even with hiking i go out of my way to hike things that are far, or not the "top 10 best friggin things to take an insta picture at" because i hate people.
I don't like crowds, i like peace in nature, also crowd bring trash, it's loud, trail traffic, trail eventually gets gravel and then paved, etc.
You could say I hate old people, and people with disabilities but no. I like that some hikes are crazy accessible. I like that some view points can be reached in a car. I also like that some hikes I wont see more than 5-10people tops in 5or so hours. Maybe none.
With skiing and things being tracked out it's even more of an issue. Saying fuck everyone locals only is whack, although I feel the sentiment when you live at ski areas and the traffic is always rowdy, almost too rowdy to ride. But there's a difference between localism and not broadcasting to the world every cool spot you find.
People who don't understand that/post things like that really need attention badly and or are way too dramatic.
No keeping your favorite fishing, hiking, skiing, crocheting, yoyoing,pogo sticking spots to yourself is not racist.
are people genuinely concerned for others well-beings or are we all just salty our favorite stashes are getting skied quicker? like the argument has been increased inexperienced BC travelers in terrain they shouldnt be but knowing the culture of skiing, nevermind actual snowsafety and BC professionals, care more about their shit getting skied-out quicker than educating others.

more bullshit, skiing is expensive as FUCK, backcountry arguably being one of the most expensive genres. it doesn't have anything to do with race per say, it's just really hard to get into backcountry and skiing in general.

I feel like anyone who can legally access the land should be allowed to. I have plenty of local spots around where i live that have become more popular over time, but its not really a big deal. I get that social media overexposure can make a spot more popular, but its not that big of a deal. As long as (most) people are respectful then everyone can have a good time.

I think the only way we're really gonna fix this is if we all travel to San Diego, get naked, and start jackin it. ladies you're gonna have to figure it out. Also I better not see stumpy here on public land that literally no one is preventing him from going out and riding on and that his tax dollars go toward maintaining just like everyone else, or I'm gonna be pissed.

I and my hunting friends are happy to take people along with us if they ask and are willing to put in the effort for the hunt. Same with skiing, DM me and I can tell you, but if I think it's not a good spot for your skill level I'm going to tell you that. Just because it isn't geotagged doesn't mean I'm a complete dick about it. The hunting community has it down.

Well thats awfully nice of you to tell people where you hunt. I wouldn't be nearly as willing to give that information away and many other hunters wouldn't either. I still have tendonitis in my achilles from all the scouting I did in early fall. Finding good spots is hard work. If you've ever watched any Randy Newberg shows, he talks about his opinion on the matter in depth which is pretty much that he doesn't give out his spots to randos. Many other famous hunters feel the same. So when you say "the hunting community has it down" I agree with you but I think we have differing views on what that means. Most serious hunters will not tell you the specifics of where they go hunting.

I would Concorde myself to that serious then. If you’re willing to do the 13 mile hike with me then you’re more than welcome to come along. That said, I’m not taking every person out there. I worked hard to find these spots, especially as an adult learning hunter.

Yeah I mean there is a difference between taking someone you're friends with, trust, and want to hunt with along with you and doing what that guy on instagram wants which is revealing spots to promote "equality" or something. It isn't racist to acknowledge that having a bunch of people around ruins a spot. And to go a bit further on something you said, if someone DMs you and asks where a pillow line you skied was or what drainage you shot a deer in you have no obligation to tell them that info. you're not a dick for wanting to keep that secret. It's nice that you would tell them but personally, I wouldn't.
Here in NZ we take the signs off the road that point to all the local surf spots so people can't gps there. Then we slash their tires if they don't have good etiquette. There's stories of some people in the Naki lighting cars on fire.

Yep. I treat skiing and hunting and mushroom foraging spots the same way. I will never tell people locations. If I can put in the work to find it, so can anyone else, and that's what they'll need to do if they want the rewarding spots.
That being said, I am happy to bring people with me if they put in the same amount of work. I like sharing my passions, but im not gonna give up locations, ever.
I would love to see more marginalized folks in skiing, but the sad truth is if a location blows up on social media 99% of the people coming there will not be those people, but rich white dumb fucks from texas who will park on the highway and dump trash everywhere. There's plenty of land and nature for everyone to connect with, but far too many people to all connect with one location. You can easily find cool places to go with a little bit of digging and asking people, but blowing up a spot to millions of people on the internet just ruins it for everyone (not saying one tag will do this, but its a cumulative effect). Feel free to tell people where spots are if you know them and there head is in the right spot, no one owns a spot, but don't bleat it out for all the wannabee influencers of the world to hear.
And if we want to help marginalized people get into skiing, what you really should be talking about is the absurd price of lift tickets that basically makes it impossible for a normal person to try out skiing at any major resort
