Is it worth joining a local ski team?

My local hill has a very strong ski team coached by many well experienced professional ski coaches. They have practice twice a week and optional competitions you can join once on the team. The team is for all levels. Is it worth joining a team like this with coaches to help or would I better off practice and trying to get better on my own?? Thanks so much in advance.

If you (or your family) can afford it and will support it, and you want to. then yes! It may be the best decision of your life. You'll be surrounded by like minded skiers and people who are there to support and help you progress. Though you have to have the drive to push yourself and utilize the provided resources the team provides. It can open up opportunities you may not get on your own. Such as going to certain events, learning new tricks, and meeting new people.

Agreed as stated above, if you can......do it! Try it out for a season and if its not for you, than you can move on to other things. Being around like minded people are only going to help push you to be better and also open some doors for other possibilities. Best of luck!

Id say go for it. My home resort has a freeski team but its pretty expensive (1k per year) so i don't do it. Price is definitely a limiting factor. But if you have the money, give it a try!

Do it! The connections you make from school are just as valuable as the education you get. This is a great way to put yourself out there and make lifelong friends who will open your future career to different possibilities

If you need skiing friends that is great. And you will learn a lot. I have never had a loval team or a coach. I have just learned from the other few i skied with

I was on a team for three years. It was a wonderful experience and helped me progress a lot in the park. I also made a bunch of friends that I still ski with today. The club I was with would offer airbag training in summer. Idk if it is the same where you live but to be able to flip you would have to do it 50 times on bag before trying it on snow. This saves people from landing on there neck when they try it on snow. Eventually I found I could progress further off the team once I got the fundamental flips down. All and all I would say if your just learning join the team it was a lot of fun

Im on snowbasin big mtn ski team, If you have the funds, by all means do it, and the comps too. I've learned so much and just improved drastically. theres more to it than just improving, it becomes something else.

I have nybora at my hill and i heard their really good for coaching but its 900. 900!!!! Idk if its worth it

Growing up I was on a park team and the friends I made from skiing every weekend have lasted well into my adult life and are the best homies. I'd say go for it
