Does anyone ride Elan skis?

I'm fairly new to skiing in the grand scheme of things so I dont know if they used to have a big relevance but I litetally never see elans apart from an occasional little kid in the park with pinballs but I didnt see them or any other attempt at a ski similar on the website. Maybe they are more in the racing market but at my hill Fischer seems to dominate that domain. If you RIP elans let me know! (Not trying to hate or anything just curious)

They don't put much effort into park skis/marketing but I've known plenty of people who have really liked their park skis. Not surprising, it's a legit company

Folks do like the ripstick line. Josh Bibby rides for Elan now, and he seeked the brand out.

A friend of mine used to shred with Elans. I think he liked them pretty well. They didn't get him laid ever like they were supposed to so he upgraded this year.

I was just thinking about what happened to Bibby the other day. So many of those mid level pro skiers that just kind of fall of and enter that "where are they now" genre.

I fell like Elan is on that same level as Nordica, like what kind of freakier would really spend their money on those when you have more core companies to choose from. I feel like Atomic & Rossignol are kind of that way but a few steps above, considering they have riders like the Well's bros & Benchetler

I see quite a number of their front-side carving skis in the lift lines particularly women's skis, and ripsticks.

I bought my daughter a pair of twist pros mainly because they have a decent width 81mm in a 125cm length, are almost full twins with rocker-camber-rocker profile, are quite lightweight, and were reasonably priced, but she's seven years old so I don't know what that means to you OP.

The Ripstick 106 is a great Tele ski, I’m sure it would be fun for alpine too

I think Elan came out with the first parabolic ski in the 90s. Or at least one of the first few models that came out. Idk how they fell off so hard they were pretty respectable for a long time.

I have tried some, they felt nice. They had that convex tip so it was a super playful ski. Don’t see many on them except kids

Elan used to make a lot of other companies’ skis and I can’t say with 100% confidence that is still true but it wouldn’t surprise me if it were. In short Elan does not make a bad pair of skis. They just target a different demographic than what you’d expect here in NS.

Yeah I got on the Ripstick 116 recently and it fucking shreds. Also a really progressive mount point at around -5, super light and easy to throw around.

Didnt really spin more than 180 (mostly because I can’t) but they can ski switch pretty decent given the more directional shape. I can imagine landing switch in deep pow wouldn’t be super easy.

I picked up some 172 Puzzles at a ski swap last year to get myself into some park. Symmetric tip and tail and 86 underfoot. Do a good job for everything I need in the Midwest. I couldn’t find any internet sales of the same ski when I got home, only a sketch eBay post.
