Reusing the same pivot holes - what to use on threads?

Proper way is you can use heli coils. They make metal and plastic ones. You just screw them into the existing holes and it will give you a threaded hole to mount into.

If you don’t want to go that route and want to home diy it. Stuff the holes with a rough steel wool. Then use epoxy and force your screws back into the steel wool packed holes. The steel wool will be forced into the core and create a super strong bond. Probably stronger then a new mount hole all together.

These are all good suggestions but if the holes aren't stripped it'd be superfluous.

a little worse off: epoxy and steel wool (epoxy will make future removal of screws much more difficult)

major damage: helicoils or inserts

I use bags of 72 hour epoxy 2-3USD, or gflex 650 (more USD)

Also another note, proceed with caution when putting anything other than adhesive in screw holes. On a fresh hole, the wood glue acts to lubricate the threads of the screws and seal the wood as the threads bite into the core. Wood glue is great for this application as it does not adhere well to metal so the screws can be removed and the female threads left behind when removed remain in-tact. Upon subsequent installation of screws, the wood glue lubricates the threads and fills up any minuscule volume between the screw and the threads. A consistent, but very minimal amount of glue is required.

many time there is damage to the threads it is important that only a very minimal amount of filler material is used to fill the voids left by the damage to the threads. whether that’s a sawdust or steel wool and adhesive blend it can be very easy to over-fill and force the filler material to the bottom of the threaded hole, which can then result in bumps in the base or failure to be able to insert the screw to full depth.

Anything other than screws, wood glue, inserts, or helicoils is kinda a hack/bodge
