K2 Reckoner 102 or ON3P Jeffrey 96

WoFlowzReckoners are wider so more float in soft snow, Midwest doesn’t get a ton of snow but I prefer a wider ski anywhere, the tip and tail of reckoners are pretty butterable. It’s rly up to you. I think Reckoner 102s are a blast and they aren’t to wide where swaps on rails are difficult. I also wouldn’t spend like 800-900$ on the skis themself personally.

KwaasyGood to hear. Could you speak to the ability of the reckoners stability for charging/hitting bigger jumps by chance?

WoFlowzYeah they’ve got a good bit of tortional rigidity and the tip and tail aren’t to soft where they’ll loop out on backseat landings unless you’re really backseat, they got quite a bit of rocker so I’d go 177 or 184 depending on your height and weight

KwaasyHere’s my situation. I currently am riding the 178 J Skis Allplay and love them for pure park riding (of which is 80-90% of my riding here in the midwest). However, for me personally anything outside of the park I find them to be way too soft (tails specifically) to ride aggressively all mountain especially when I go out west or the few “mountains” we have in the Midwest.

The ski I have settled on as the best option for my bigger mountain riding is the ON3P Jeffrey 96. I want something that is significantly more stable but still fun and can hold its own in the park.

I can get the K2 Reckoner for $480 though, and that would be like half of what it would cost me to get the Jeffreys new from ON3P. For anyone who’s ridden one/both of these skis, would I be making a mistake going to the Reckoner for my needs instead of the Jeffreys? Would be sweet to spend like 40% less but I’m not sure.. I am 5’9 170 and an intermediate skier for reference (3rd full year)

Foxtrotx1I had have the Jeffrey 96 and liked it. I'm selling a pair of 181s on here OP, so full disclaimer on my praise bellow. Too much overlap with my Jeffrey 108s (just got some Commander 98s for charging instead) but otherwise a great ski.

I can only compare it to about 5 or so other skis I have ridden, but it's super nibble in bumpbs/trees and stable at speed. Generous rocker so it handles slush great and soft snow more than you would think. Definitely not lacking in the park due to it's ON3P Kartel heritage (-4 mount, generous tip/tail rocker). Bases/edges are typical ON3P bomb proof. It's not the worlds best ice ski by any means, but I never had issues skiing hardpack days in AZ with it. Side cut is solid, carves well at speed for a park/mountain ski.
