How do I fix my knee issues...?

So were on christmas break from school and my local was open for 2 weeks straight 10 to 10. I was there every day well day skiing park except for one day. I dont ski to hard but it's still alot. And in the past few days I have had a really bad knee pain when I put pressure on it or when I sit down for prolonged amounts of times. I'm only 13 so I dont think I should be having knee pains yet haha. Anybody know of something like this and how to help it??

You should probably just rest for a week and not ski. If it still hurts then see a doctor.

Yeah that's why I'm looking forward to getting of break even though I have school yet. I planned on taking a day off but we actually had something around 7in of snow in the midwest so I wasn't about to pass that up

Okay I'm about to butcher the anatomy of a knee but pretty much the upper portion of my knee cap if that makes sense? And the surrounding area of my knee caps

Ok so like top and sides around your knee cap. You have a ligament going from the sides above it then under it. Basically what my doctors said was to rest and don’t go back to skiing until there isn’t any pain with those movements. They also recommended pt/working out. Squats, lunges, side lunges, calf raises, and band exercises will all help you strengthen that part of the knee to prevent injury. Also do band exercises that strength your hips a lot of knee injuries happen because your hips aren’t strong enough and it puts most of the force in the knee.
Hope this helped and if your still feeling pain after about a week or 2 see a doctor.

After you get it figured out definitely run/bike/do lunges and squats or something in the off season. You’re young now but it’s a good habit to be in to keep your knees strong and prevent serious injuries.

My knee used to give out when i was like 11 or 12. Think it was from growing a bunch. I used to run and it was bad to the point i was scared to run because my knee could give out and I'd eat shit.

But yeah you can get injured when ever butbyour knees should be pretty good when you're young. Maybe get it checked out just to confirm that theres no injury that could be made worse over time.

Some things can start small butbif you dont fix it or let it heal they can screw you over in the future. Hopefully it's just a little sore from some landings or something and youre otherwise healthy and knee will bounce back.

If I had to guess you are probably experiencing Patellar tendinitis. Skiing is a very quad dominant sport and thus puts a lot of pressure on the petella tendon, this can lead to inflammation. I would just rest it for a while and you should be fine , depending on how irritated it is could take a week or two. But at the end of the day you should be ok. If you want to keep beating on it any sort of compression sleeve and or Advil does the trick. Heat is better than ice because if you relax the quad it will relieve the pressure.

my uneducated guess is the muscles in your legs aren't strong enough for the sudden burst of skiing you did, so a lot of the force went to your joints?

Small update my knee gave out walking down the stairs to school this morning and I fell on my ass 😅
