How could google employees be so fucking stupid they actually thought something like STADIA would actually work?
The whole concept seems like the idea of an autist on bath salts.
“”HEY GAIS LETS JUST USE SERVERS IN ONE BUILDING FAR AWAY AND NOT USE A HOME CONSOLE YEAH IM SOO SMART FOR THINKING OF THIS IDEA OMG I WORK AT GOOGLE AND GET PAID 600K A YEAR OMG DONT QUESTION ME I KNOW WHAT IM DOING I WORK AT GOOGLE OMG”
Im skeptical of the whole cyborg thing. Language based communication is very efficient already. Its not like an implant is going to make you all of the sudden prove the banach tarski paradox
My roommate has stadia and he really likes it, he plays sports games and single player games. Stadia isnt quite ready for FPS games but one day cloud computing will be very popular.

eheaththis article is over a year old lol
I would be very surprised if the shit will ever be able to compete with the cutting edge consoles.
the speed of light is fast but its not instantaneous, plus i would expect there to be parts of the stadia information train to have to slow down at certain bottleneck locations.

If you have decent internet there is no input lag, you should look into stadia a bit more, they're doing a ton of new netcode shit to eliminate any lag. I think you're assuming its just skippy and shitty, its very smooth and clean, I've played some sports games on it. Like I said, for FPS games the lag would cause a huge problem, but the computer that is running your game will be constantly updated and will always be more powerful than a console.

Also who are you trying to kid here, computers will always be better than consoles. Consoles are an easy button made for casual gamers, if you actually care about having a powerful rig for 4k gaming, you'll get a desktop.

How can a few servers outpace the performance of 10 million gamers home consoles in terms of cumulative computing power?

Also, i dont know why you think PCs are always going to outperform gaming consoles? The ps5 and xbox series x drop 10 and 12 teraflops, respectively, and to buy or build a pc with the same performance your going to be spending over 2000-3000$. The next gen consoles literally murder desktop PCs.
microsoft and sony are not creating their wunderkind consoles as some sort of half-vagina budget compromise that is cheaper than gaming PCs because its not as powerful.
they are creating their consoles to be PC killers that cost 25% what a comparable PC would cost.

Laughs in rtx 3090
Also if cost is a concern then you're not interested in high end gaming. The ps5/xbx is a revolutionary change in consoles, but the day they announced the new consoles, nvidia, AMD and intel all put out products that are "better" than the components in the console. Computers will always outperform consoles, period.

It's not just servers, its basically indivudual gaming computers that you are just streaming the image of the game over the internet. The computing power for stadia is unlimited, google will constantly upgrade these systems for stadia, thats the whole point, it eliminates the need for hardware.

So youre saying the premise of this first article i screencapped is wrong?

This reminds me of the IPhone vs DSLR debate. Whenever people start to say that smartphone cameras can match DSLRs the new generation of bodies come out and blow them out of the water. Having to balance convenience and usability vs specialized machines, usability will always lose.
eheathYeah dude both articles you posted are clickbait trash.
I would call you clickbait trash if you werent so god damn handsome...

I think PCs and consoles should be measured in pwnage per dollar. In this respect the xbsx and ps5 are clearly the winners. If 12.55 teraflops isnt enough for you then you are crazy

whats your opinion on it? i know you play a lot of competitive shooters so im guessing you somewhat know what you are talking about? how is the gameplay? good ping, fps, input lag etc?

12.55 teraflops means literally nothing dude, you'll but lucky to run any new game at 4k 60fps on ps5 or xbx, while PCs have been running 4k 60fps for years.

What do you think represents a more relevant graphics and framerate bottleneck than the flops stat?
