NateDog21Had no luck on the skiing subreddit so thought I’d try here. So, I’m a pretty short teen, so I got the shorties in a 149, got them mounted in the local shop last week. Being an idiot, I assumed the factory mounting points would be at the center since it’s a park ski. Instead, it was wayyyy back, like where they mount rentals. Should I have them remounted at center if I’m mostly gonna stay in the park? Also, why would factory mounting even be so far back on a park centered ski? Thanks guys!
animatorIt’s a youth ski. Youth skis generally aren’t designed for center mounted use most of the time because companies assume most kids aren’t at the level of skiing to warrant a center mount. The Armada ARV 86 I believe is an exception given the smaller sizes it’s available in. Also the recommended line on the Wallisch Shorty is center according to Lines website, @Cascara any insight here?

mystery3The ARV 84 is the junior model.
OP just take a measuring tape and figure out where the mount is relative to the center of the ski.
NateDog21Ok I’ll do that in a sec. What should I do with the measurements?
mystery3Tell us how far back from center the mount is so we can tell you not to worry about it.
animatorYou gotta explain what that means I don’t think OP knows what you’re saying
OP, put the boot in the binding. On the bottom of your boot there will be a line with the letter A next to it which is the midsole, or the exact center of the sole of your ski boot. Mark where that lines up on your skis. Then, measure the distance from the line you just measured, to the center of the ski. If there’s no line on the center of the ski, measure your ski tip to tail and mark on the ski where the exact center is.
Measure the distance from the center of the ski, to the line that you marked that corresponds with your boot sole. That’ll tell you how far back you are from center!

NateDog21They are 8.5cm back from center. Should I get them remounted?
