Hackel Pro Sharpie?

I know you can (and are supposed to) use sharpie on these skis, as confirmed by ON3P's instagram who confirmed that Hackel uses sharpie on them himself.
But, now that people have started skiing these, are there any issues with the ink bleeding from water on the topsheets? I don't really want to go to town on these skis just to have the designs bleed off on a slushy day. If this is the case I might draw on them and then paint a layer of some kind of preservative on the topsheets before having them mounted.
Also has anyone tried fine point sharpie? Wondering if that works with the texture of the topsheet.

You could probably go ham w your design and then spray a clear coat of spray paint on it (tape your sidewalls and edges before doing so) and that would help preserve them

Might want to look into a clear coat that is meant for outdoor / low temp environments. Would suck to get it finished and have the clear coat peeling off the min the skis cool down on the snow.

Most clearcoats are likely to crack and peel when it is cold and you are flexing your skis if you don't prep the surfaces properly before applying. That means scuffing up the surface with something like a scotchbrite pad before applying the sharpie

So I should sand it, sharpie, then coat? Seems like a lot of work. Probably better than having the sharpie bleed off, though.

Over time it will scratch, and fade off but fairly slowly. The sharpie will not just "run" off the ski when it gets wet. A better medium though would be paint marker. last much longer.

Sharpie makes oil based paint markers that are great for things like drawing on skis / helmets etc.. Once the paint dries it definitely won’t bleed, only chip if it gets scratched.

permanent marker sticks to topsheets surprisingly well, I've tried to wash off marks for centerlines, not even citric cleaner removes it, you need like acetone or heavy stuff, so it will not smear.

Honestly I would just forgo all of that and use an industrial sharpie, the one with the red label, and accept that it will fade a bit over time

Scratching off/fading is fine because I can always just re-sharpie the faded parts. I think i'll just sharpie them and see what happens. The sooner I finish the design, the sooner i can mount them, and the sooner I can ski them!
