TGR has some really good shit on their forums for information. Also, some of their threads can be pretty entertaining. I don’t use tgr but I def wouldn’t turn down a beer with some of those guys

The reverse could be said about park enthusiasts, there are is no set way to truly make this comparison, its purely opinion and poorly thought out and a lil something tells me your probably maybe most definitely not quali-fix-eyed to be a judge of “skier skill” , in the park, free riding or in a video game. Guess I could be wrong, post an edit , trophy, award or short POV not stolen from a shrinks wall, drawer or a junkies dope den and I’ll rescind my statement.

I've gone through a similar experience, but it's not been for lack of interest - just shifting priorities. I grew up in a similar situation in Indiana, riding park most of the time. When you're on 400 ft of vertical every day there's only so much pure skiing you can do before it gets stale. So you just lap the park where there's always something new to try.

Once I moved out west and had regular-ish access to larger mountains, though, all of the sudden there was an endless supply of new things to try outside of the park. Learning to properly ski pow. Finding pockets of untracked trees. Hiking chutes. Figuring out how to pop off of cliffs without immediately going over the handlebars when you land (a particular sticking point of mine.) And on and on. Eventually, those kinds of things just became more fun for me purely for their variety. Exploration of and experimentation on natural features is almost completely different mountain to mountain and even sometimes day to day depending on conditions, and I love going into a day on the snow not knowing what I'll find.

It's nothing against park riding. I still swing through in lieu of groomers if it's on my way back to a lift. I still watch slopestyle comps and video segments. I still refuse to buy a directional ski. But, for me, the at the end of the day the park is always the park - it only changes so much. I'm just having more fun these days exploring the whole mountain.

4FRNTActually skiing is a ton of fun and having a ski that can do more than just slide a rail is what makes the whole mountain fun. If you can't have a blast skiing everywhere and anywhere in all sorts of terrain, you're doing it wrong.

I saw the instock #s the day they were released , something tells me there’s a lotta jerries on these, hard to imagine that many rippers but who knows

icedget Burton impact shorts or something and kneepads. Both actually make a huge difference for me anyway

I never really got good at park as a kid and I've always regretted it because with every passing day my recovery time from slipping on a rail gets longer. This season my goal is to push it a bit more since I moved back to MN from MT and I've found that I'm not as slip-prone as I thought, but some impact shorts might be real clutch...
