First off lemme just say fuck Marker. I've blown out my heel piece multiple times now while landing 5s that feel mostly fine. Good rotation, spotted landing, maybe a little nose heavy but I've landed heavier. Anyway I did that again today and saw my brake broke, kinda sucked but whatever. Upon closer investigation, the point of failure was the actual mounting plate, as you can see in this picture.
Well I was getting tired of these shitty Griffons anyway so it's not that big of a loss. But wait there's more.
Right behind the heel the topsheet is cleanly cracked. The layer right below it seems to be intact but it is delaming. Last time this happened, the core was busted. Confirmed by ON3P, who kindly replaced it. This time, the flex still feels a bit different but not as clearly broken. What confuses me is, I clearly landed front heavy so how did the back break? Is it even that broken or can I keep skiing these?
Also, I'm looking for new bindings. I love pivots but I'm not sure if I want to have bindings that I can't adjust for different boots on these skis. They also are expensive af for not planning on buying bindings before today. A good price would easily be the dealmaker. Should I try Attacks or something else?
Also I'd love to have Kartels, but if I had to buy new, I wouldn't want 108 width anymore, but the Jeffrey 96 is definitely the lowest width I want, being as my park skis are 96s. What about the Wildcat 101s? Or other similar skis? Hopefully I can find a nice lightly used pair of ON3Ps can buy for cheaper but idk I'm open to ideas.
