Last week, my dad purchased a mountain bike that was in excellent condition, from a seemingly normal seller.
Later that day, my little brother was online on PinkBike, which I am sure a lot of you know about. He found an add for a stolen bike that looked exactly like the one my dad just bought that day.
It was the same bike.
My pops has always lived by “honesty isn’t the best policy – it’s the only policy”.
Dad contacted the gentlemen, and he arranged to pick it up from him.
When he arrived, not only did the guy reimburse in full what my dad ‘bought’ the bike for from the scumbag thief, but he also threw in $100 extra as a reward and because he was so grateful.
this wasn’t thousands upon thousands of dollars, but enough money to think twice about dropping all at once haha
On the off-chance you buy used; skis, bikes, snowboards, whatever… do your due diligence. And if something like this happens, do the right thing. In the end, something better always works out.
I’m not sharing this story to put myself or a family up on some pedestal of excellence. I just wanted to share because something positive came out of a potentially super negative situation, which isn’t common these days!
Cheers everyone
