omIVI think that race skiers have more awareness of park and powder scene than you might think. There are also plenty of skiers with a race background who would enjoy a non-FIS-spec carving ski from an independent manufacturer.
Racers are very aware of ski construction and what goes into it -- which is what drew me to on3p in the first place. As I was transitioning away from full-time racing, on3p was actively blogging and posting its factory and ski building processes, which sold me on the fact that these guys are making their product the right way. Still ski my J'mos regularly, and while I didn't get as much out of the pre-rocker Blue Steeles as I hoped, that's mostly on me for being a bitch about rails.
Understanding that on3p's branding is not targeted towards race skiers, there is definitely a market, if perhaps a niche market, for an independently crafted carver that isn't $5,000 and targeted at assholes in Spyder jackets in Aspen. I'd buy an on3p 80mm today.

EPfanboyOn3p race skis, now hear me out, wouldn’t it be sick if on3p made a pair of race skis like 70-80 waist that all the old geezers that ride Head and Atomic got instead of Redsters and World Cups, they got the on3p _ _ _ _ (on3p to name suggestions (pun intended) that they carve up the piste on just like how yo momma carves my Christmas ham. The intended demographic for these skis would be A. The people with the built in goggles to their helmet and that have matching outerwear and Leki poles B. For the small percentage of the NS community that are ski racers/primarily ski on piste. Haters will say this is a shit idea, but i am ready to battle my dick is erect and ready to sword fight!
cobra_commanderWhich is just a mediocre Atomic Metron two decades later.
No. ON3P does what it does well... Other companies do what they do well. Building carving skis is what Dynastar, Atomic and Blizzard do well. I'm just going to go out and say ON3P is not going to build a competitive Redster X9 or Blizzard WRC. Not gonna happen. Augment might though....
For better or worse ON3P needs to focus efforts on places where the brand can move enough volume to justify production costs. The JMO/Jeffery/Kartel train of skis is exactly one of these. I have a pair of 12 year old JMOs (115mm wide) which can still hold its own against many of the skis on the market. The Billy Goat and C&D offer a very unique platform which I believe make them the coastal soft snow ski the the world. Yall park skiing nuggets seem to really like the magnus/park ski line.
Companies need to produce what they do well. The W88 was a very fun ski, and I love my WD96, but I also own a pair of Blizzards for straight groomer days.
Also no... Absolutely not.
