Anybody use a car audio subwoofer in their house?

DolanReloadedIn terms of spl per dollar you could get a much more powerful car sub enclosure with a powerful amp for the same price of a home audio sub.

obv ppl will say “muh audio quality” but bass is ham fisted; it doesnt really matter unless your bottoming out or distorting massively.

i think u could put together an enclosure for 1000$ that could crush a 2500$ home audio sub in depth and spl.

I worked in the car audio industry for years back in the 90's and early 2000's. Built a few comp sound cars and some pretty cool interiors for cars/trucks back then. Did stuff for Clarion, Pioneer, MTX ,Boston Acoustics and a few others. Granted I am out of touch with that industry now but it was my life for a while.

Thats awesome man. I was never into the whole tearing up the insides of a car to fill it with 100 subwoofers thing but its still cool you were actually doing all that shit.

could i ask you what you think is the best value per spl car subwoofer you can buy these days that is good quality? Im sure you know what is good and what is garbage.

I honestly agree, I personally wouldnt do it to my own car. I am more keep it at a factory look with a good sound system and use it every day but there were the people that wanted the loudest system out there and would spend thousands upon thousands just to get another dB or 2. It was/is super crazy to me but hey, to each their own.

Again, I am out of touch with the whole audio thing these days but if you want a good sub, stick with a company that just makes speakers. I always liked the Boston Acoustic stuff when it came to quality and customer service. MTX always had some good stuff too and stood behind it. Rockford Fosgate made good stuff, I never worked for a dealer that carried them so I am not familiar with the customer service of them but I did install many amps and speakers and they always worked well. Not much help but good luck.

Cool. The 15s i had in my car as a wee lad were rfs. They were very powerful for that time before comp subs started getting redonkulous.
