Lange xt3 vs lange xt free

Hey,

I'm looking to buy some new boots and I wondered if some of you have ridden both the lange xt free and the new xt3.
I'd like to know wich one is the best in downhill performance.

For walking the new xt3 is clearly better, but, the most important for me is how it ski and if there's no difference between the two the xt3 is better, but as the older xt free is less uphill oriented I wonder if it skis better than the new one

Wich one has the smoother forward flex? Wich one has the best rear support?
Wich of two is the best for a 70-80%inbounds 20-30%BC use?

Only difference is that the XT3 walks better, and is slightly lighter. Still has Lange Dual Core, I found that the new XT3 skis just like an RX boot and still walks better than the old XT Free. If you can get an XT3 and don’t mind spending a little extra for it, I’d suggest it. Definitely a better boot.

I've been in the XT3 this season. Love it so far. Walk mode is great and works just fine with a custom foam liner. Feels like a dedicated alpine boot while being noticeably lighter. Feels slightly stiffer than the RX I came from, while both being 130s. Would recommend if you want one boot that can do a lot.

XT3 has different plastic than the XT and is lighter, it should ski better because they arent using gralimid in it

Nice thanks for all the help, I'll go with a xt3 so.
Do you know if the hardness of the shell change between the 130 and the 140?
I've been trying them in a shop but I can't feel much of a difference between both^^ For me the 140 seems to be a 130 with a better strap and a spoiler, curious to hear your thoughts

Plastic is the same, the liner is slightly stiffer to account for that extra 10 flex

Oh, I see, like the stiffer part in the front of the cuff of the liner you mean?

Most of it will come from the back of the liner where the hard material is. It’s a little bit stiffer plastic than the 130

Interesting, I thought it would also have a stiffer flex forward, not only rearward.

It does have a stiffer forward flex too, that plastic in the back accounts for forward and rearward flex

Ok... I don't want to be that boring guy always asking questions but, I got some trouble to understand how this slightly stiffer plastic on the back of the liner increases the flex in the forward direction, cause.. It's in the back, and everything is well hold by the shell

Because when you flex forward the whole liner will bend. It’s the same theory as a walk mode. When you have an XT3 in ski mode, it’s stiff because the cuff is locked. When it’s in walk mode you can flex forward more because there’s less support (the cuff is unlocked).

It’s the spoiler and the strap and the liner not just the liner

Ah true I forgot about the strap. Spoilers don’t make boots stiffer though they just increase your forward lean a bit (don’t actually increase forward lean it just pushes your leg forward a bit into a more aggressive stance)

I see, though the difference feels veeery subtle between the 130 and 140.

The liner in the 140 is also easier to put them in or off I found

It is very subtle yeah, I have an RX140 and it feels almost the same as the 130
