skiminnesotaTitle says it all, life long skier, I know that I peaked a few years ago (31 now and a couple of knee surgeries) figured if I am going to deal with long lines this year, and a gf whos not the worlds fastest snow sport enthusiast. Why not teach an old dog new tricks? Goal is to be ripping blues by the end of the year. Anyone else picked it up just for something new?
CatBoyheads up: toeside turns are a bitch.

SessionSpent the last couple of years snowboarding, and the beginning of this season. I'll be back on ski's by Saturday. Oddly snowboarding fucks up my knee's more than skiing. Probably keep the snowboard gear for the hell of it.
I hate what a slow fuck I am buckling in.
270on420outI got one last year after skating all summer. Sean Petit also inspired me. I got injured skiing a lot but still managed to get a few good days of snowboarding in. I’m planning on doing a lot more this season. I don’t want to go pro or anything, just wanna be able to keep up with my snowboarder friends in the park.
GrandThingsMight get castrated for this post...
But does anyone ever flip back and forth between which they think is cooler? I know personally I've been watching a ton of snowboarding movies/edits this year (shoutout The Dustbox) which have been getting me super hyped to ride but a few years ago I wouldnt have thought shit about snowboarding. (I actually started snowboarding in middle school because all my friends skated, then switched to skiing when my friend showed me Revolver)
SuspiciousFishWow, times have changed. Back in the day when you turned 30 and felt like your prime skiing was behind you, that was when you start telemarking. Make sure to go around telling people how its REAL skiing and how they will never know how great it feels to drop a knee in a carve. Then go get a telemarking bumper sticker to seal the deal, double points if you can put it next to an Alta sticker.
hdubsYou just described my dad to a T. He did the exact same thing and still goes on about how he can rip harder than me and my brothers. He also constantly goes on about how telemarking is better in powder cuz he gets more face shots

In all seriousness though thats sweet to try boarding as something new. Its probably better to do with your GF as you are both going to be more at the same level and learning together

sqeellicbicI snowboarded a couple times last season for the first time on a friend's board and it was actually really fun. One thing that really sucks though is that your knees are now fair game for falling on. I also found toeside stops/turns easier than heelside which was weird.
animatorFirst day on a board for me resulted in my tailbone being bruised so bad I couldn’t sit down for 3 days
