ARV 96 or 106

This has probably been asked a bunch but I cant find a thread. Im in BC mostly skiing park but powder here and there. Im on the fence about the arv96 or 106 , also looking at the moment wildcat 101. Could anyone help me out a bit please , thank you.

96 if you want a ski that's 96mm wide, 106 if you want one that's 106mm wide

If it's your only ski 106 for sure otherwise 96 plus a versatile pow ski.

Wildcat 101, 108 would be excellent as well but they're kind of a different league budget wise.

Thank you, thats the way I was kinda thinking as well. You think spending the extra few hundred for moments be worth it if the money is there ?

K2 Reckoner 102 perfect balance. But If u wanna stick to armada arv106. I ski k2marksman in the park no problem and there 106 it might make it a bit hard with rly techy stuff but other than that it’s fine

I’m also in BC and I’ve got the arv96. They’re pre good overall and they sink a bit in powder but it’s skiable. So if you value powder ability a lot you should get the 106. The best option like some other people have said is to get the 96 and then get a dedicated powder ski.

for bc definitely go for the 106 unless you ski 98% park or are super concerned about weight.

ARV 96 and 106 are similar but still different skis. 106 has "smear tech" that will make it less hooky tip and tail (and float better). ARV 96 is definitely softer but if your a bigger dude the 106s are plenty soft. Also, you get what you get with a wider ski: heavier, slower edge to edge (doesn't matter in the park) and more capable in soft snow.
106mm skis are very capable on hard pack these days so I would go with that (unless your chasing powder days, in that case I'd go ARV 96 + wide pow ski).

Most definitely. I’ve owned both ARV96 and 106 and ride moments now. Haven’t been on the cat101 but can’t imagine going back to the ARV line after riding skis that are built so well and perform better than anything I’ve ever clicked into. So worth the extra $

Moment is worth it, there’s no doubt. Unless you find a really good deal on ARV 96s, get the Wildcat 101 (or if you can find an old PBJ that might be good too, they stopped selling them this year for some reason).

I think Andy Hays was saying Wildcat 101 was designed to take the PBJ’s place in the line up. I think having them both would be too big of an overlap.
Municipal007Moment is worth it, there’s no doubt. Unless you find a really good deal on ARV 96s, get the Wildcat 101 (or if you can find an old PBJ that might be good too, they stopped selling them this year for some reason).

You for sure won’t regret it. I thinned my quiver down from 4 whips to 2 because moments were a little more costly but it was totally worth it.
RobbyDYeah it sounds like Im going to go with the Moments, I think I would regret getting a pair of arv’s. Thanks for your helpful words!

Highly recommend the wildcat 101. Im using them for exactly what your doing and love them. Originally got them as an all mountain and park ski but my actual park skis are taking forever to ship so ive been using them as a park ski. They feel so good and ski super short because of the rocker. Also a pretty light ski so its super easy to do swaps and spin fast on them. The times when ive got out to the mountains and got some powder they have floated better than anything ive ever skied before. Ive got mine mounted like -2cms from true centre which still gives me float but is super stable in spins. My favourite ski ever and i use it for similar things as you intend to. Also keep in mind that even tho its alot more expensive you get really great durability for your money.

Thats dope man , glad you’re havin lots of fun on them , it sounds like theres only positive feedback on these guys. I might have to pull the trigger unless I can get away with getting an older pair of pb&j’s for half the price. Thanks for the words.

I found a 172 pb&j and I found a 181 kartel 108, what would be the better ski unless just spend double the money for wildcats if its worth it. Im pretty small 5’9 140lb. What do u guys think ? Thanks.

181 sounds slightly long for your height and weight however not TOO long. Definitely get a second opinion

Wildcat 101 = new and improved (and renamed) PB&J.

PB&J was always a slimmer version of the Bibby Pro (now called the Wildcat) so we figured with the Wildcat rename and the addition of the Wildcat 108, it was time to round out the family and rename the PB&J to the Wildcat 101.
