Bending Pivot14 Brakes (115) to fit a 96 Waist Ski

Hey homies

I always see a lot of talk about bending bindings wider to fit skis, but not much talk about bending brakes inward. I have a new set of Masterblasters (96 waist) and have an opportunity to snag some Pivot 14s for a great price. Problem is they're 115 brakes. Am I wrong to think I can bend them inward a little? From what I've read its difficult to replace pivot brakes and not really worth it. Anyone have experience with oversized brakes on skis?

I know those would be ideal but I can scoop this set with 115s for a really great price ($150). Thats the only reason I'm trying to make these work


edit: Pretty sure I was running attack 13s with a 110 brake before on the same ski without much issue

That is a good price. If it were me I would either keep the 115 brakes in case you want to put those bindings on a fatter ski in a couple years or checks gear swap or shop to see if they will trade the 115 brakes for 95. But a 115 brake on that ski will be no bueno.

Brakes that are too wide are the fucking worst. My pivot brakes are 95 on a 90 waist ski and it's really irritating. If the bindings are new, I'd try to find a shop willing to swap them for you. Otherwise buy a set of 95 brakes and either sell the 115's or wait til you have a ski that actually needs them.

you can probably swap brakes with someone, or sell them, but 115 on 96 is nogo

You have to replace them before you mount them, its not hard, but you could also buy the bindings, buy new brakes and take them both to the shop when you get your skis mounted, unless you're mounting your own skis, then you should be able to change them yourself.

No need to crimp metal. The dildos can come right off and go onto a different brake assembly. If you buy a replacement brake in a 95, you can put the dildo from the 115 onto it by just unscrewing the two black arms that are used to adjust forward pressure. Please don’t put a 115 brake on a 96 ski. The issue with pivots is that when the binding is engaged (boot is in the binding), the brakes just come up. They don’t get pulled towards the housing/center of the ski like on an Attack.

easiest way to change brakes is just to back the crews out, takes 1-2minutes, do it carefully and dont crossthread threads. tada.

The older pivot and fks bindings had some soft brakes that could bend like a thick pipecleaner. Newer models are more solid and could break
