Skiing at University of Vermont?

Starting to look at colleges and UVM seems sick but I'm from the west coast and idrk what the best resorts are near there. What are the best VM resorts near Burlington?

stowe is like 40 minutes away and is ritzy/expensive but good

bolton valley is lower key but a pretty solid little mountain and last i checked they had night laps

smuggler's notch is just the other side of the ridge from stowe and is super sick and lower key than stowe

killington is one of the best/most popular mtns on the east and is like 1.5 hours away from there

jay peak is like an hour 20 away and is prob the best mountain on the east

Sugarbush is always a fun time and it's an hour away. Stowe is also 45 min away but I've never been but I've heard good things about it. A little farther away you have Jay Peak which is the powder mecca of the east and killington which has the best parks in the east imo.

But I doubt you're gonna have a pass to all these places so I'd recommend just getting a sugarbush pass because they have a good balance of terrain and parks.

Pros: Great ski community, quite a lot of ski areas within a 2ish hour drive if you want a change of scenery, plenty of urban ski options.
Cons: You're going to absolutely hate the snow conditions and weather if you're coming from the west coast.

I work at UVM. You got sugarbush. Stowe. Smuggs and Bolton all within an hour drive. Burlington is awesome. Would recommend

I did bush the first two years, then jay, and then stowe. You really can't go wrong either way, each is great in their own aspect. Jay is a little further away but is a great mountain, lots of terrain. Stowe has some great spots as well, as does bush. Can't go wrong with Burlington either

I was debating going there but I didn’t like the town it’s way too small. I love skiing so i was shocked when I decided to go to umiami instead. Honestly I recommend going to a dope school and not base ur education on skiing. You always have winter breaks.

stowe: cool asf, watch some ski the east videos on it

killi: park and big + pico: best trees and shit when the snows good and you know where your going

sugarbush: best vibes park wise ive ever seen

jay: snow i think, like a lot of it

What programs are you interested in for school? UVM has gotten crazy pricey. I’ve dropped my recommendations for some schools in New England with decent skiing and programs in the ski industry

plymouth state-loon
nvu lyndon - Stowe, loon, bush
keen state (not sure about ski related program) - mount snow
UMF- Sugarloaf, Sunday River, Saddleback
Castleton- Killington
UNH- Gunstock

I'm currently at UVM and it's gotten kinda wack since the whole covid thing. Like a weird majority of the school puts all this bullshit above having a good time which has gotten really annoying the past two years. Before that, it was lit as fuck my first two years. Stay away from Stowe, too fancy, and everyone from southern new England who thinks they're hot shit goes there on weekends which makes it crowded. The Sugarbush/Mad River pass is the fucking move, Mad River is sick when there's snow and bush has Mt. Ellen which is good for when Lincoln gets too crowded.
