Durable Mittens on the market?

Im looking for a good warm and durable mit for park laps on a rope tow. I hear people say leather but I had a couple pair of burton gloves and the leather palms of those got shreded through the second layer in about a week or 2. Any ideas?

Wouldn't be surprised if those gloves you shredded weren't real leather.

Thanks for the suggestions, How can I be sure they are real leather?

does anyone who grew up skiing in the midwest remember those things you could wear around your gloves that protected them from tow rope burn? are they still around? they might not be totally swerve ski but they'll save your gloves!

Get Kincos, Wells Lamont, or Flylow


also get a jar of snowseal and regularly reseal them for max durability. During ski season I usually reseal my mitts once a month. Keeps your mitts from getting rotten and soggy and adds an extra layer of protection. I like kinko's because of how easy they are to find and the low price. I've had a few pairs of wells lamont and have blown the stitching out on all of them pretty easily.

I wouldn't bother with Flylow gloves. They are literally 1/10th the quality of Kincos and twice the price.

My Flylow tough guys seemed to be the exact same as the Kincos I got to replace them. The Flylows are 8 years old now and I use them as work gloves and they still function to keep my hands warm and protected.

Grew up using those and they freeze solid when it drops below freezing temp and they get the littlest bit wet, very nostalgia though

I vote Kinco. Sturdy leather. Meant to hold up to manual labor. If you rub a ton of waterproofing into them, they will last forever. I’ve had the same pair for like 3-4 seasons

they may not be involved in sponsoring pro skiers, but they make nice mittens that stay warm for very little money and I appreciate that so damn much.

after you buy sno-seal kincos are probably ~$15-20 cheaper than a pair of wells lamonts. ones cheap, the other has wrist loops, is already waterproofed, and sponsors dudes in your sport.

Pro-tip:
If you only waterproof the palm and front of fingers, they are a little bit more breathable, albeit at the sacrifice of a little bit of waterproofing
