Replying to Should giving film credit be optional if the filming isnt professional?

I wanted to know what you guys think about this topic. My buddy is a filmer for skiers in the park and he's pretty good for someone filming for free. Most of the people who use his clips in their posts on insta or anywhere else usually tag him because thats just the right thing to do in my opinion. The reason I ask you guys this is that recently someone used clips majority filmed by him in an edit to get a few hundred views, the filmer asked for credit and he was denied because that would "boost his ego too much". So what do you think? Should you give film credit to the person who shot and trimmed your clips?
