Replying to Edward Snowden: Patriot or Traitor

Finally watched this movie Snowden. I know the jist of the story but put off the movie because as expected it glorifies him. So my question I pose nearly a decade later, is he a traitor?

He severely crippled our reaches and potential for power as a country. At the basic core value of any country, it is to be the best. He risked that on the basis of privacy ethics. Now we are in an era of homegrown terrorism which these surveillance programs would be perfectly positioned to defend against. Also want to point out he's still living in Russia.

BTW we all know the government didn't change anything. They are still spying on us.
