very curious. drop which model you ski or skied and what you thought of it. more interested in all mountain/freeride shit but whatever's clever

Surface daily 120 underfoot. Only used it a couple times switching with a buddy. Personally it wasn’t the best experience but I think that came down to the length. I’m pretty sure it was above 190. Overall it charged extremely hard and it could handle any type of speed. Crud busting was effortless but as soon as I put it on a groomer I felt like it couldn’t turn. They are decently heavy but I am 140 and 5’9 so it all depends.

The Surfaces I had were the double times, hated those skis they were super stiff to the point where they weren't fun at all. Plus they were the least durable skis I've ever owned. I have heard great things about them the last couple years and they seem to be back on track.

New Lifes were an interesting ski haha. Couldnt believe you could hold an edge on groomers with those things. Their new skis look wicked rad.

Surface No Time's? the generation with Skullcandy x astronaut
lasted about 3 trips out, the actually snapped one of the planks landing a small feature.
Would not recommend.

I'm still running my One Life's and they probably have the most amount of on-snow time of all my skis and definitely have the most core shots, they are from when Surface was doing only extruded bases so they are super easy to fix and have 20+ black base welds in them now.

Honestly the most versatile ski I've ever used. I run 'em as a rock ski/daily/ice/pow/crud/charging ski and have the cambered section edges tuned super sharp and the rockered tips and tails progressively duller, and they can charge through pretty much anything with the confidence of much more "normal" skis

i've owner a handful of pairs but i haven't skied any of their newer models since they left for that season and came back with a new line up. the new models look like they have better build quality from what i've seen in person. i've owned the balances, labs, auburns and the joystick ones. all really fun skis, topsheet quality was the only thing i've always disliked from ski to ski, they got beat up too easily (i think they fixed that with the newer ones). easily worth the pricepoint though, all of them lasted me 2+ seasons which is really all i can ask considering the price and how much i beat my skis up.

i would compare their build quality to that of maybe faction or line. they're not necessarily known for durability like k2 or icelantic or on3p, but they are considerably lighter and generally have a very jibby playful feel. also the balances have a very chargy feel too, they are incredibly reliable for straightlining things because of the stiffness and shape, even though they're a center mounted pow ski. i've always liked their skis and might pick up the new attila pow ski at some point

Skiing the 2020 Give'r and its a great ski. Pretty soft and fun ski yet stable on bigger jumps and going fast. The only problem was delam on both tips. I fixed it with some rivets and epoxy and it's good. The newer models have the metal tip and tail caps to prevent it. The textured topsheet is pretty durable and I have a few edge cracks after a full season. I have 2021 Snipers that I'm going to be riding next season so I'll see how they compare.

I've heard that Surface build quality now is way better than back then.

I haven’t heard that name in ages, but of what I heard they are pretty cheap but also the last time I heard of em I was in 6th grade so very possible that they changed.
