Yellow jackets

I was sking ccc under the Tannenbaum lift at holiday valley last year. We had just skied it the run before and were at the top waiting for my friend to strap into his board. Two yellow jackets came and gave us shit saying there was a closed sign on the run, when in reality, they had only put a closed sign on one side of the lift. It seemed like they were going to pull our passes until they found out we were from Ontario. They let us off with a firm warning. Was a really annoying experience because we honestly did not see the sign. It has been my only negative experience with yellow jackets/ski patrol so I wouldn't say that everyone of them is like that.

In my experience when they say "we need to see passes" NEVER PULL OUT THE PASS.
They can't take it from you until you pull it out so always try and talk your way out of it. Admit whatever you did was wrong no matter how dumb the situation is.

^This - As long as you're humble/play stupid a little bit and are generally polite they'll usually only let you off with a warning.

Pretty hit or miss, but also extremely easy not to get in trouble honestly. You're not going to run into the speed patrol hardos much and if you do, just say yes or no sir, grab their name, and then talk to their management.

I had a run in once with the equivalent of them at mt hood meadows. I was like 12 and I was ski boarding. Four of them stopped myself and a friend for " turning too much" and being intimidating towards younger skiers. And those fuckers were acting like we were america's most wanted or some shit . They punched a hole in our tickets and said if we got in trouble again we'd lose out day ticket.



Also once at keystone I accidentally sprayed the shit out of them at one of thier sign spots. And I was dead serious I didn't know what they were and as they were gonna give me shit some kids came down a closed run and they gave chase to them.....

Yes they are real and mall cop vibe for sure. Some of them not great skiers and all narcs. That said a lot of people that get in trouble are being a bit reckless and say dumb shit and make things worse.

Even the most out of control person will tell you that they weren't out of control. The dude that can hit a box and so is a great skier and now swerving barely in control almost clipping people even better switch etc in slow zone almost hitting families. Then yellow jacket or pateol stops them. 0 to 60 instantly with a "Fuck you man I'm the best skier in the mtn, I can hit a box and do a saftey grab fuck your couch cop!' Because that will ever go well.

If you're in a slow zone or busy trail watch your speed and watch for them. They're in fucking bright yellow jackets. If you see then slide a few turns and look bored. They have boners for park kids so if you don't look like an average jerry you're a target.

If you do something stupid and are getting chased or about to be just dip out for the day. Don't talk to them don't talk shit to them, don't give them your pass. They can't do shit to you honestly. Just don't make a scene. Me as unmemorable as possible. Either change gear and roll back out or wait till another day.

I was changing boots in snowmaking trailer at northstar and there was a radio on scan and they were chatting like cops. Super lame. I got one, green jacket, black pants, in pursuit down lugis. That kind of shit.

I used to slide the blades if the snow cats in the shop yard sometimes. Had a video doing it on way to staff picnic and yellow jacket walked by, did it anyway cause fight me bitch, and he was like yo what are you doing i was like yo we work here and we going to the picnic and he chilled out. Twas dope. Cool stary bra

Every yellow jacket thinks that going more than 10 mph means you're out of control.

Obviously there are some bad apples in ye old yellow jacket who are there literally just to get mad at you and their mere presence is a huge vibe killer in general BUT it mostly is pretty easy to not get in trouble. The number one way is to ski like a fool in a slow / family zone - taking side hits out across the trail, skiing switch poorly, skiing too fast on an icy groomer with de-tuned skis, etc. Basically the equivalent of when dads take their kids through the park and camp out in landings.

This is so fascinating, never heard of it, in all my skiiing in europe. My first introduction to the topic was when that youtube video mentioned came out

Same thing happened to me at HV except they said we were skiing the closed woods. Ski patrol put up a closed sign after we entered and these dudes were just waiting

Believe it or not, I actually know someone that dated one of the keystone yellow jackets.

Yellow jackets specifically target skiers and boarders with higher ability. They associate going fast with being out of control. Ever see them stop the rental dude in his flying wedge going Mach 10? Nope, apparently that is acceptable.

Lmao what a bunch of dbags. That's exactly what happened to me, same entrance, except they caught us flying out at the bottom. Tiny ass signs and bright as fuck. "we don't ski in there" lol. That's such a mellow run. Good to know they don't ski in the trees so one could essentially use that for escape haha

-be skiing down groomer
- yellow jacket runs out from behind sign waving you down
- ski to right and have them follow you out
- get closer
- cut left and go around them
-go to smoke shack and wait for things to cool down
- enjoy rest of day
