Ok, loading skis on roof rack thing. If not twins, which way should the skis face?? Here’s a picture of how I have been doing it. Does it even matter. Idk
To reduce drag/wind noise I’d say you want them the other way so you’ve less facing into the wind and you’ll get less dirt flying at the bases. You should also leave your bases unscraped with wax on the bases on your way to skiing, scrape in the lot before you ski and then wash them down when you’re home to stop as much road dirt as you can.

I've heard putting them tail first is the way to go so if you get dirt on them, it comes off when you ski and doesnt run down your base as if it was in front

biodegradable wax, I’d advocate you using it whether you scrape in the lot or not. It’s the next best thing to protect your skis to a roofbox which can be $$$.
The one I’ve used the most is Toko’s universal all in one but I’ve also had decent experience with Butta’s eco wax and the new Universal backcountry wax from Data.
Lots of companies now are doing them though, like Swix has a whole range of fluoro free waxes, as countries like US, Germany, Norway etc are beginning to ban fluoro from their race teams.

omIVPlenty of wax is not? Flouro waxes are going away starting this year, but racers have been polluting watersheds with that shit for decades, no?
Honestly I don't know much about this, I've always assumed since we've been putting wax on ski for decades that its not that harmful, if harmful at all.
its proven very harmful when concentrated, like the soil under the most popular crosscountry competition arenas here and nature runs here are showing wtf values of toxics.
