Local shop vs sportcheck

which one to go for mounting sportcheck is $20 cheaper and local shop likes to increase price for a "special" reason so which one

Sportchek fucked up my bindings dont do it, literally a fuckin rando teenager drilled my skis. Id rather pay 60 bucks so my skis dont get fucked

They drilled one ski at recomended and one at center, not to mention they didnt even properly set the afd or forward pressure. Fuck sportchek ur so much better off just supporting a shop, especially during this economic crisis

As someone who works at sportchek in the shop bring them to a local shop to mount them. We have 3 techs and 2 of them don’t fully know what their doing.

get your skis mounted by my brother I promise he knows what he is doing and is also very cool.

Our third brother also works at the shop. We all grew up watching ski videos together and are super passionate about newschool skiing. If you live in NS, support A1!!

The age old question of “should I get a better deal at a corporate shop or support my local?”

tbh do whatever you want, I’ll usually try to support local shops but IMO some local shops just suck ass and don’t really deserve the support.

take world boards in Bozeman as an example: are they locally run? Sure, do I support em? Hell no.

kooky staff, shitty selection, poor service and a racist owner turned me off of em immediately- when I need new skate shit and I’m not in Minneapolis to support familia or cal surf I just order my shit online.

support local ski shops! (if they dont charge you out the ass and are good people)

I have had bad experiences letting corporate entities work on my skis . Not saying that there are not good techs in these shops, just that more often than not , they will take a guy with less experience and “train” them so they don’t have to pay as much. Most local shops have far more experience, again that’s not to say there are not good techs at big corporate ski shops , it’s just the luck of the draw and you will have better luck at a reputable ski shop.
