You can open vents if you got hot. Some people just like to rock an insulated jacket and a t shirt, not everyone gets super hot. I have a friend who wears an insulated jacket because he just runs cold during the winter. All personal preference dude, not everyone wants to deal with adding and removing layers during the day

I gathered he’s more talking about that you pick your insulation for the day - not that you’re planning on shuffling your layers through the day.

Obviously this depends on your climate and if you ever plan to tour. If you’re touring you’re not gonna be able to wear an insulated jacket on the way up or want to be exposed to cold winds in a tee.

If you run cold or have a colder climate, and you're always in the resort and wear hoodies or other stuff in the spring, then an insulated jacket can obviously work.

End of the day though, shells work for everyone and insulated jackets work for some people. If you don’t know who you are then get a shell.
