i always see people salting their drop ins in edits and shit. Might be a jerry question but what does it do?

Basically makes the snow harder. You can use any kind of salt too, including table salt.

Plastic kicker ramps for skateboards have worked well for me. I'll use one kicker connected to the flat part as the drop in and put the other kicker in front of the rail I'm using. You'll still need to have the drop in be on at least a small hill however so that you can have some speed.

As mentioned, Salt that bitch up. Salt will do a quick melt then re-freeze and it will make the lip or inrun solid as a mf

Does salting still work if temps are above freezing? Looking like its gonna be in the mid 50s all week

Yes , u can use salt at most temps it doesnt matter if its above freezing or not. Just build the jump stomp on it with ur skis a bit so its smooth then salt and let it be for like 15mins and ur set. Should keep the lip good for atleast a day or two if done well.

Yes it’s supposed to work for when snow is slushy and wet. I don’t think it works when it gets colder and becomes sugar/crystal-like and you can’t pack it at all.

Yea If it’s below freezing, especially if it’s cold as a witch’s tit, hit it with some water and it will all lock together super well

Make sure to shape a little flat part at the top, it'll hold up better than if it's shaped as a triangle.

Yes. It works better with big and chunky salt, like sidewalk/road salt. Do it in layers that way the whole lip is solid just not the surface

Salting is only helpful when it's warmer/ wetter. That's why they use it in spring time a bunch. Can throw down salt when it's 70 and slushy and firm that shit up.

Snow veries a lot op. Maybe you worked with powder mostly. The problem is compacting it. You can step on it a bunch and it will still be soft. The nire you can comosct it the better. If it's cold and sets over night that will help a lot too. You can add water to the surface to help bulk it up and make it more dense/allow it to freeze a bit.

Sometimes urban crews will use propane to melt the lips so they back in and don't fall apart. Salt really wont help a take off of powder when it's cold.

Rink shaving are ice but in 50 temps they should bond enough. If it starts melting and being wet then def rock the salt.

Idk we used to pick up rink shavings and set uo spots late at night in the summer sometimes even. Rake or shovel it out and throw aome salt on there to freeze that surface and get more speed and make everyting more solid/keep it from melting away to water and mush.

Different aniw and temps react differently. Fuck around withbstuff and see what works. If the snows wet add some salt, if its dry salt isn't really the move.also make sure you smooth everything then salt, then waot, then ride. Otherwise it will freeze in whatever ridges are there.

Rock salt did the trick. Built a bomb proof lip and drop in and literally had to take a pick axe to it all to get it to come apart when i was done. Big ups on all the advice yo
