Just rewatched both Magmas.
This kind of athlete is what Volkl needed.

Last time I tried the revolt it felt like I had cinderblocks on my feet. Maybe I'm a weak baby but mad respect for hunter who can whip those things around. Don't prefer volkl skis but he makes them look very fun in magma(s).

I enjoyed my test ride of the m5 mantras over in the Beavers at A-Basin.

My impression?

Buckle em onto a basic Denver white guy weekend warrior, and he will instantly become a sendier skier and improve his self esteem. Should be the first option for these types of guys.

anyone else still have their chopsticks? my buddy went to japow a few years ago and bought a set for like $250 brand new in the plastic still just to have waterskis for the deepness over there lol. it worked out tremendously well

I think Volkl's cool. Their Revolt 121 and 104 are two really good skis I want to spend more time on. Revolt 121 is actually a super versatile ski that can really absorb large hits.

But not a fan of the graphics so much, but the Rev 121 is kinda cool

I will say though the ONLY Volkl graphics I’ve ever truly liked were the 2009 Volkl Walls with the graffiti. But I’m sure they ski well, usually brands with a racer background builds some skis that can charge well.

I have some 2009 Gokamas that were mounted and ruined as a touring ski. I was going to clean them up and sell them do you think I should keep them for any reason?

I went down to my local welding shop and asked them to whip me up a pair of 2009 Mantras out of iron and they rode very similarly to the ones I had back in the day.

That’s completely up to you my man. I don’t see ya getting much for em unless someone wants an early / late season pair of rock skis
