Obligatory see a bootfitter. Durability wise I've been on the 120ax for about 80 days of hard riding (I've even hiked a few miles in them) and they're holding up well. I'm about 135lbs and the flex is good for me. They tour pretty well too with the tongue removed.
Yes, see a boot fitter to make sure they're the right boot for you.
That said, the durability is absolute garbage. But they skii great and are one of the best one-quiver boots I've skied in. The biggest durability issues are that the toe welts get chewed up super easily. If they just used different plastic there, it'd be so much better. It seems like the toe welts are softer plastic than binding plastic (and most of the rocks while hiking/booting). I've warrantied several pair, but am sticking with them for hiking/touring days since I can't find a boot that hikes, tours, and skis as well for me. I'm only 115 pounds, so I shouldn't be blowing through pairs like this. All they have to do is make the toes out of the same material as the heel, like the Panterra. But for some reason year after year, they keep failing to fix this. If you don't mind keeping the tongues clipped to your pants or on/in a pack, you like an upright skiing boot, and you're not as hard on your boots as I apparently am, then they're a great all-around boot.
Oh, and the liners it comes with are super lightweight touring liners. I know the above makes me sound like I'm giving it a negative review, but I actually really like the boots. The toe pieces just piss me off.
Been riding the AX120s for about 60 days over the last two seasons. Real pleased. Mainly because they’re a solid boot that accommodates my high instep needs, and they ride hard. 170ish lb for reference.
With the tongues off they tour great. Got some intuition pro tours in them now and I’m really stoked. Original liner packed out too much.
Plastic is definitely a bit soft and prone to dings. And my buckles have taken some abuse. But they’re holding up for function and I’m gonna try to push them for another couple seasons. Park, resort, touring, happy with how they ride everywhere.
