All mountain, carver, park ski?

Hey. The season is bout to start and I was wondering if you could help me out with ski choosing. I'm 16 y/o and a intermidiate-adv skier. I like to ski all over the mountain, powder, park, carving etc. I'm 65kg (145lbs) and 175cm (5ft 9).

I've been looking at the faction prodigy 1.0, 2.0 and the atomic bent chetler 100. Which of these skis would fit me best or do you guys have any other recommendations?

Which length would fit me best: 165 or 170?

Line Chronics or Armada ARV 96s. If I were you I would get a longer ski especially if your skiing all mountain.

Maybe the arvs but the chronics are definitely good for all mountain cause they are pretty stiff

Your skis should be at least as tall as you probably ~180 for 5’9”

I've said it before, and I will say it again. Bentchetler 100. It is amazing in all conditions, it can carve just as well as it can surf powder. It's a ton of fun in the park, and it can charge super well. I would take ski it almost any conditions.

Honorable mention: K2 Marksman. It also handles a lot of conditions really well, but K2 discontinued it last year. The Marksmans floats a bit better than the Bentchetler, but it handles most other conditions a bit worse. Prodigy 2.0 would also be fine, same with the ON3P Jeffery 102 or 108.

Been skiing the marksman for three years now and it’s held up better than any other ski I’ve ever owned. Super fun ski and there’s something to be said about the asymmetrical side cut. Don’t know how it compares to moments and I only skied on kartels a few days but I don’t think you can go wrong with marksmans.

Yeah, it's a super fun ski. It's funny how well yours held up, mine got super fucked after less than a year. No rails or anything. I assume it was just a bad batch because every other person to ever ride the ski loved it. It really does ski great, I really like the asym sidecut.

Thanks. I think I will go for the bent chetler 100. Which length should I get?

180 most likely, the extra length will help with stability and overall performance of the ski. and since you are 16 you will probably grow into them a bit more.

Ok, I've heard that the radius is quite long, does the 172 have a shorter radius?

The radius is 19.5, so not very long at all. The 172 is obviously going to have a shorter radius, but not by a huge amount. There really isn't an advantage in getting the 172, unless you are going to be skiing a lot of park.

At your weight and height you can ski your super lucky. you have no idea how lucky you are. pretty much any cool ski in the categories will be avail in a shorter and longer length for you




Im gonna throw in the new k2 reckoner 102 here, you will probably love that. Its going to be way more soft, and probably at your weight, more playfull than the Bent Chetler 100

ARV96 is surprisingly fun, again stiffer, but lots of energy. Nollies and ollies on theese.... ohhhh yes! carves way harder than you would think, super for park of course.

PRodigy 1.0and 2.0 will treat you well, super solid skis, and fun, can actually carve a turn

BC100 are superlight, but.. hey so are you, the tails are quite stiff, so dont expect super easy manuals, tail press and other stuff like that, also not super easy for slow butters, but very good skis. 172 if your unsure on your skills, and 180cm if you know you can impress the girls.

Thanks for the advice! Which ski would you say carves the best the chetlers or the prodigy. + I've skied GS skis when I was younger so I like to go fast. Should I go for the longer,stiffer skis?

That’s crazy I bang mine around pretty good. Usually a few park laps a day and everywhere else on the mountain and they’ve held up very well. I’ve even gone through a pair of factions while I’ve had these and my marksmans are still going strong.

ahh seee, you should mention this, lots of us has a race background or background from stiffer skis, and we can relate ;)

the BC100 has stiffer tails, than shovels, I just find that weird, I like a rounder flex pattern, but Im way heavier than you. Its a super super capeable ski, for the weight and I've done 55-60mph? on the BC100, heck even on ice that thing grips. Its for sure a good all mountain ski, and way better if you need float for pow or such. In air its super light so very good for spinning and such, the tail also is supportive on backseat landings. But for slower speed butters, press, manuals, whatever, its just not super playful, you need some speed to get it going for butters, like of a roller or knucle huck, yay.



I think you need to define more what you reward as everything will be a sacrifice on some other part.

I also need to mention the 102FR 19,20,21 same, but 21 is pink!! , ARv96 (for you probably 2020 best, not 2021) revolt 104 2021. I also just picked up the 2021 CT 2.0.

I'd definitely go with the Chetlers based on durability but also Ive heard that the Surface Balances carve pretty well

You have the chetler 100s? If so whered you mount em? Cuz I picked em up this year mainly for all mountain use but I wanna be able to use them in the park without being super off balance. Been toying with the mount points for a while now

I mounted them at -4.5. I don't use them in the park much, but I have and they don't seem too unbalanced. I kinda wish I mounted them further back, but -4.5 is pretty standard and versatile.

I've tried them mounted at other places, and anywhere from -10 to -1 still seems pretty inviting and skiable. It really just depends on what you prefer.

What makes you wish they were mounted further back? More float in powder or more directional stance when skiing? Or something else? Just curious as trying to get all the info I can when considering my mount

Just realized I never responded to this.



I wish I mounted them further back because I ski them pretty aggressively and like to be able to really charge on the tips. I have a different pair of skis I use for more "jibby" skiing and park.
