How much wider to go on skis?

I'm currently rocking a pair of ON3P Jeffrey 108s. Likely wouldn't be too near in the future, but the thought of getting a more dedicated powder ski has crossed my mind. First of all, do I even need one? 108 plus the fat rocker on the Jeffs has definitely gotten me through some deeper days, but I guess I don't know what, if anything, I'm missing out on by not having a wider ski.

That leads me to the question of how much wider? 112 definitely seems too close to 108 to justify another whole pair of skis. Is 116 different enough? Is 120 too wide? I've definitely had some dreams about 120 bent chets before...

5'11", 145, ski would be used mostly at copper and telluride.

The ski is much more important than the width

I ski my 112 Deathwishes for everything, and I love them. I used to do the same with Bentchetler's 120s (no rails tho). 106-114 is pretty much the sweet spot for west coast big mountain performance imo. If I were you I'd get a ski like the BC 120 or the Volkl Revolt 121. They are both super great skis that perform amazingly in the deep stuff, and surprisingly well on groomers. If you don't want to go that fat, the Jeffery 116 or Billy Goat would be great, too.

For telluride&copper a fat boy would be a great addition to your quiver!

I used the 108s at copper during that storm last year and had no problems whatsoever as long as they’re long enough ur chillin

Did you use "greater than" or "less than" marks/arrows?

Op: 108 is a nice do it all width for out West but if you want a pow ski go big or just don't worry about it. Try to line up some demos if possible?

You read my mind, have had my eye on both the BC and Revolt. Leaning BC right now. I'm pretty light and the Jeffrey is already on the stiffer end of freestyle skis, so could be fun to have a more playful one when the time comes to upgrade the quiver. Although the idea of having an all-ON3P quiver is also beautiful...

Yeah they would both be great, the revolt definitely charge harder, but the BCs are just a fantastic ski. The Chets are also super light (duh) and they aren't great in choppy conditions.

Also take a look at 4FRNT InThayne for a good middle ground. Also, J skis Friend, Line Outline, or Armada JJ or JJUL. All of those are pretty flexible fat skis, that are a lot of fun in a lot of conditions.

I have the Kartel 108s (old jefferys) and was in the same boat as you. They absolutely kill it on a daily basis and can ski pretty much whatever l, but I wanted something wider still. So I picked up an old pair of moment bibbys (118 underfoot) for pretty cheap. I haven’t mounted them or rode them yet, but theoretically should be better for the deep days when I go out west.

I got myself some Rossi Black ops and I dig em. They’re 118, And I ski them in true center. I did have a pair of fatypus I-Rocks that were 126 or something like that and those definitely felt too big. On those it got to a point where I felt I was losing maneuverability because of how fat they were. The black ops feel like a happy medium between fat skis and maneuverability. 10/10 would recommend to a friend, or the OP

let the hate roll in, but im a sucker for 116-125mm underfoot for all days except for when it hasnt snowed in a week.

surf over the crud, bigger platform for butters, more stompy, lots of rocker is the bomb. I love it.
