The UK vs. The United States.... is the UK truly better

lets think about it all the greatest music in the world has come out of the uk and originated from there

all the best tv shows originated from there (almost every US tv show is a rip off either completey or almost the same as tv shows that originated in the UK)

as for film, well the USA has Paul Blart Mall Cop and Grown Ups and the UK has Monty Python Holy Grail, Life of Brian

literature: the UK has JK Rowling and Charles Dickens, and in the USA you can read the book Triggered by Trump Jr.

Actors and actresses: the UK wins by miles here, the uk has the best trained and skilled film stars.... too many great UK actors and actresses to name

The UK has the NHS any pharmacutical prescription is capped at 8 pounds and when you go to the hospitals or the doctors there u dont pay, u got to a hospital in the USA u better go into cardiac arrect after you look at ur medical bill

education: holy fuck education in the western world started here. Eton College, Harrow, Winchester, Shrewsbury, Westminster. and of course universities such as oxford and cambridge.


Porn: the USA wins in this field, no much good UK porn other than the Ben Dovers series


Basically what i am getting at is there is the Uk has a much richer and sophisticated culture compared to the usa

in the USA its like, "lets throw dog shit on the wall and see if it sticks"

Ive actually lived in England and the US.

I'd say outside of London is better and I find myself missing England more and more lately. Other times I'm glad I live in America for reasons many Americans take for granted. I'm able to properly defend myself, my family and my property if something ever happened. I can build an addition onto my house without 6 months of filings with the council, only for them to come down later and say I didn't use "approved" roofing tiles and thus need to tear down and rebuild with "approved" materials. I can buy some land and live there in relative peace. Good luck buying 5 rural acres in England that isn't millions of pounds. From what I hear the SJW and social Marxism crap is also worse in England right now, so I definitely wouldn't miss that either.

The culture and national pride of the English people makes up for most of this. There is a pride and quiet dignity in many of the British I've come to know. The average Briton is more intelligent and articulate than the average American. There is free healthcare, free housing, free food should you or your family need it. Far fewer fall through the cracks of the system as they do in America. Politics are a side show, whether you're labor or conservative, they still see each other as their countrymen. In America they see each other as the enemy. I love both countries and there is much that one can learn from the other.

I can relate to this......

I am an American living in the UK now(Scotland) and I see this first hand how property, supplies, council approval being costly and time drawn out. But the people make up for it, every single person I have met and I deal with on a daily I have been more than impressed when it comes to intelligence, compassion, self worth and helping one another. Granted I grew up in an area in the states that was similar to this but I have traveled many places in the states and people there are more ignorant, self absorbed, homeless, pushed through the system than any where else in the world it seems. Not saying it is all bad though. The US does have everything all in one country from supply of manufacturing to the proud people protecting their independence along with many wonderful areas. I do love both areas and I will say though, the US do drive on the correct side of the road!LOL

Im not saying one is better than one another but both do have their pluses and minuses.

Yeah, English cuisine, on the whole, is pretty poor. I don't know if it's better than American, but it pales in comparison to French, German, Italian, and Spanish cuisine.

That being said, I think England takes the title for crazy sports fans. People go nuts for their local football clubs over there, even if they're in like the 4th division.

Agreed, hard to compete with mainland Europe.


As for sports fans, somewhat agree. Green Street Hooligans anyone? Though I will says, if you go to Montreal wearing a Bruins jersey, or vice versa, there is always going to be the chance you get your ass kicked. And the USA has more diversity of sports leading to more crazy fans all over the spectrum.

We have guns and good skiing tho. I also like the idea of a well funded public option more than the NHS so hopefully, Biden can get that done. If I'm about to die I want to be able to shell out some cash and skip the line at the hospital. You ever used a toll lane to skip traffic on the interstate? shits fuckin sweet. Theres not many nations that are as geographically diverse as the US or have the same land access of the US. If anything, this will be what would make it the hardest to leave for me.

ive been to over 40 + countries and id have to say Americans are the nicest overall, so the usa wins in that respect

I'd start with Japan (thanks ltc) but would love to do Ireland/Scotland and then hit up some of eastern Europe since theres some family history there. South Africa sounds cool. Idk, the only international travel I have right now is Canada so not sure what cultures I enjoy and what I don't care for lol. Someday though.

The US gets a bad name for many reasons, a lot are fair, but on my travels every single person I met was so nice and friendly. Even the spotty kid who worked at a Mcds just outside of Vegas who asked if I was French even though I had the most standard British accent going lmao. What a strange moment.

Japan was the very first country I went to without my parents 🤠

I went with my grade 9 Japanese class in high school, we were there for 3.5 weeks and went to pretty much every major city and saw all the best attractions. In some cities we stayed with host families with was really cool, and in some like Tokyo, Kyoto, and Hisroshima we stayed in hotels.

That was prob my most memorable trip, I remember running thru Tokyo Disneyland with a classmate that was one of my best friends and we just cut thru all the massively long lines and stuff to get on the rides.

Africa is incredible. I volunteered in Tanzania for six months in at the start of 2018 doing various humanitarian projects, then went to South South Africa volunteer for another six months. During my time in Africa in 2018 volunteering doing humanitarian projects, I visited around 9-10ish different countries, and it was nothing less then incredible.

I was in Tokyo, Japan last year for a day because I had a layover there on my way to India, and it was just as magical as the first time i went there 10 years ago. So I cannot recommend Japan enough if you want a MASSIVE culture shock.

No we never crossed paths. He started his marathon a day in South Africa in Feb, and I was in Tanzania at that time, and I don’t think he went to Tanzania (although he did go to Zanzibar for a two week vacation at some point). 🤠
