Jeffrey 102 and 96

I have the Jeffrey 108, but I'm also 6'3", so I figured that I'm a decent reference point. If the durability and flex are similar in the 102 as the 108 (I assume they would be), I can't imagine the skis folding at all. They are a real burly pair of skis. I don't know what I would compare them to since they were my first pair of skis wider than 90mm. They are just a really powerful ski series that can float/punch through most conditions.

From what I can tell, the magnus would be more of a flexy, surfy park ski that could probably do fine outside of the park whereas the the jeffrey would be a more solid ripper all mountain ski that could also do well in the park. It just depends what you want to prioritize. If you're set on ordering the magnus 102 anyway, you might as well just try that out around the hill. You might find that it suits your needs and that you don't have to spend a few hundred bucks (or Kroner).

I feel like I'm talking out of my ass a little bit, so take my info with a grain of salt.

I daily the 96 and it is a stout ski, trust me you will not fold it. Great do it all ski. And if you are getting the magnus for all mountain I would highly recommend getting it without the stock park detune it is very very aggressive, great for park not so great for anywhere else. The jeff does not have the park detune.

I guess I could add I have a ton of skis, to many to count, from pure frontside to pow to park, the magnus 102's are just a treat to myself because.. well yeah because, stoked on the new 2021 layup. The tune on them negate the all mountain use, and for me the magnus 102 would be 100% park, so really wondering mostly about the jeffrys :)

Im always looking for fun new skis that has a special feel or feature to it, not looking for jack of all trades. My current "fun" skis that has a special place in my quiver as an example would be the ranger 102 FR, mantra 102, deacon 84, rossi hero elite ST/LT, revolt 104, k2 poacher, line chronic. So I am a bit "all over" in ski selection, as they are all very different, but they all bring something special.

Short answer: fast
Honestly I can't imagine any human being that would be able to push these skis beyond their limits. They will send you as far and as hard as you want to be sent.

When people say "fun" ski, I think a lot of people mean it to be synonymous with surfy and flexy. This ski might not be that, but I would argue that being able to plow through slushy moguls as if they were groomers is just as fun. I mean this ski is a hammer. That being said, it's not just some 2'4'' ski. It has a great feel and is pretty light, especially considering how "chargy" it is. ON3P hit the mark as far as a "freestyle" oriented all-mountain ski.

I'm also rocking the Jeffry 108s right now. While they might not be "fun" in the sense that they aren't a floppy butter machine, they are so damn fun if you ski them hard. The stiffer flex gives you a lot of pop off of natural hits and butters if you commit to the butter hard enough. I imagine a taller guy like you could ski them with enough force to have a lot of fun on them. Plus, they can blast through more than most other freestyle all mountain skis out there

OP, how do you get along with the skis you currently have?
J108s are the only skinnier Jeffrey I've been on but they aren't really that stiff in the grand scheme of things, but definitely stiffer than average for a jib shaped ski. They do have a speed limit but it's pretty damn fast and more due to the rocker and running length than the flex in my opinion.

fun is relative, I like going 70mph on edge. I like to go long, go short turns, jump, and sometimes even just noodle around slow in the park. Trouble is going with friends most people dont like to go 70mph all day all the time, so getting a fun ski that you can do butters on, some ollies, som 1/3's and other fun.. is fun!

Im mostly on the 102 FR for the normal days, with morning and evnings on mantra 102, if not just straight up in the park, but since Im a "grown up" (old) I cant spend 100% of the time in the park, would hurt myself too much and I enjoy to go fast. the 102FR has 60ish speed limit, 70ish for mantra 102s. and I do go there every time I ski. I can fold pretty much everyhing I've skied except fis GS and mantra 102's. @Greg_K got me on the 102 FR's so he knows what I like ;) The Mantra 102 is utter shit for our tight trees and pow though, so then I grab the enforcer 110, 102Fr, CT 3.0s, or similar, if the ski has some treeskiing capability it would'nt hurt,

I do love my playful chargers, and something with energy, just nollie or ollieing of a roller... is for me fun.

108 is honestly pretty darn big, but knowing 0 about the jefffrey lineup its hard to tell which one to get.

comparing to fischer the 94FR is pretty damn meh, while the 102FR is wow, even for hard conditions, just wondering if there is something similar in jeffry lineup, where that 1, or 2 models stand out. especially for heavier riders.

@anders_a Jeffrey line are fantastic playful charger type skis that have solid weight and underfoot flex with longer turning radius and lots of tip/tail splay. They are nice and surfy in tight spots but can still haul at much higher speeds over variable terrain than most “playful” skis. With their taper and deep rocker profile, they are definitely more off piste/soft snow biased and not the greatest edge grip on harder snow. All widths similar in feel with the narrower ones lighter(but not way lighter) and quicker edge to edge.
If I had to guess, I’d say there are other skis that would be more suitable to your likes and conditions.

The 192cm Dynastar MFree 108 is a ski similar to the ON3P skis in the trees and off piste but it excels more on piste. Very good at speed on groomers and much damper than the Fisher 102 FR. Reminds me a bit of the MPro 105 in its stability and dampness although nothing is a good as that ski. Surprised you don’t already own a pair of those!

Not sure how available Moment skis are near you but the 194cm Commander 108 is another ski that cries for you to try out. It will not be as surfy off piste as the Jeffrey or the MFree 108 but it should HAUL on piste on softer snow.

They sold out of the 192cm at all places here before I could get one, wonder what actual length is, actual 192 is pretty burly, lots of online stores also sold out, I find this funny as hell as I made a thread bitching about no longer skis from 4frnt, and some mfg's said they dont sell.. well, 188cm CT 2.0 2021 sold out lots of places, Jskis sold out of the longest length hotshot and slacker, and on3p jeffrey 102 and magnus 102 were also sold out in longest lengths (they are makeing more though). Local store sold out of longest length black crows allready, etc.

Which jeffrey/kartel did you try greg?

I’ve tried the Kartels in the 98(now 96) and the 108. Think 186cm on the 98 and 181cm on the 108. Tried on the line but can see why some people who drive the fronts of their skis move the mount back a bit or now just get the Woodsman version instead.

North America seems to have stock of the 192cm MFree 108 still so I guess you just have to move! Lol
The 182cm measures 181.5cm but haven’t seen if the 192cm measures the same.

All the fun Freeride skis all wide still with nothing exciting in the narrow ranges it seems. Even if there is something, it’s not in longer lengths or it’s not any better on firm snow than the wider versions.


Local rep has a 183cm Candide 2.0(no 188cm available) on a deal that I’m wondering if it could replace my Enforcer 104 or Fisher 102 FR with. 🤔

For a second I thought you were talking about the Volkl Mantra 102 and I had a heart attack because you said detune
