samhydI have been skiing the sakanas for some time last winter, went recommended and wouldn't go either back or forth from that point. I have spent most of my time on park skis and close to center mounted all mountain skis. I am 185 cm long (6 foot 1???) and roughly 67 kg light (150lbs??) skiing the 181. Moving forward could possibly make butters and jumping easier but would ruin the signature feel of the ski. However butters are perfectly possible as is and jumping you get used to. As already mentioned the skis are literally designed around the sidecut and I wouldn't consider moving forward or backwards. Hope I could help! :)
Thanks for the solid feedback homie! We are roughly the same size and weight, so that helps a lot.
LINE_EnginerdHeyo,
@anders_a Thanks for pulling me in. I do not recommend going forward on the Sakana even though the mount point is pretty far back (for Line standards). If you were to push the mount point forward the ski will become less stable, more pivoty and more twitchy. As said above, the mount point location is directly related to the sidecut and waist of the ski. Rocker profile is also designed around the waist. Some skis are designed to be more tolerant of moving the mount point whereas others are not. The Sakana definitely falls more into the later category.
The discrepancy with mount point between Blister and us has to do with the way that it is measured. We spec the "center" of outr ski as the middle of the forward and aft contact points (FCP and ACP respectively) and not the overall length of the ski. Blister uses a tip-tail measurement to find center. For us, anything in front of FCP is outside the running surface and is in the "tip section" and anything behind ACP is "the tail section". Twin tips have identical (or almost identical) tip and tail lengths so the blister measurement will match ours more closely. I know this is confusing but there is a long history and good reason for it.
Sorry for the rant. Hope that helps.
Thanks for the detailed input! That actually makes perfect sense, and I feel a lot better about the seemingly backseat mounting.
Not one to think I know better than the designers, so I'll def go with line spec.
Thank you for clarifying the discrepancy in numbers as well.
Stoked to get these set up.
Cheers!
