Having trouble with 270s on

When I try to do a 270 I always land on the side of the rail and fall of right away. I can't jump onto the center of the rail, but I can get the rotation around fine.

Yo man I had the same problem for the longest time and I realized for some reason I was popping off of my left foot (idfk why I would do that, probs just a bad habit) and not my right. What helps me personally for doing reg 270 on an urban style rail is I gotta pop off my right foot a little more in order to get on the rail good and for lip 2 or lip slides in general pop off ur left foot. Same w sw lip, I could never do them til I realized I was poppin off my right foot and it would make me off balance.


Moral of the story I sucked at a lot of tricks for a long time cuz I always popped off the wrong foot.

Someone correct me if im wrong but I find it easier to do left rod 5’s if I pop off my left foot and not my right.


Side note if you wanna see what im saying stand on the ground like ur going sw lip into a rail and pop as far into the imaginary feature as you can. Youll notice that if you pop off ur right foot (when doing sw right foot fowrward lipslide) you have no balance or stability at all and when u pop off the left foot it feels super proper.

Bro you deadass always give the best trick tips. I've been struggling with 2s on and now that I think of it, I barely pop off my right foot. Never tried a sw lip but I'm almost certain I would've had that problem but now that I'm aware of it, I prob won't have it anymore. You're the goat.

Thx man!! I have nice trick tips cuz I think about skiing way too much. If only I was actually as good as how I sound lmao.

I struggled with that too when learning. I was carving into/throwing the spin too hard because it was scary and I wanted to get the rotation around. Started aiming further down the rail and throwing the spin less aggressively and found success.

As I’m approaching the rail I wind up and as I’m going off the lip I’m already unwinding and my torso is already spinning and getting close to 180 degrees. When you do this your legs can spin a lot faster under you because the top half of you has already initiated the spin. Once your in the air above the rail for me it just snaps into place (Takes a little practice). I learned this technique trying 270 onto a short pvc tube on my living room floor, you can actually learn a lot just wearing regular shoes, really helpful and fun way to practice rail tricks indoors.
