Need ski advice

so im trying to get a pair good park skis that will hold up most places around the mountains of the east coast and something thats light and maneuverable.

im about 166 cm and currently looking at arv 96, honey badger, prodigy 1.0, wallischs, chronics, allplay, or candide 1.0, or maybe surface royales but i havent heard enough about them. open to skis that would suit my style.

since most skis in my range are either 164 or 170 i am leaning towards 164 for weight reasons but I dont know if im right with that (leaning towards center mount or close to center). i would also prefer something a little soft so i can play around but no noodles. 90-96 underfoot is perfect for me.

I'd say go for 170cm ish.

As for skis, prodigy 1.0 seems like it'd be a pretty good choice for you, same with the ARV 96, allplay, or chronic.

I'll also recommend the Armada Edollo, Armada Bdog, ON3P Magnus 90( or 102), or Volkl Revolt 95

What are the perks of a longer ski besides stability and does it make butters a good amount harder

I'd recommend Magnus 90s if you wanna be on the more narrow end and Edollos for the fatter end. They both fall into the category of playful but not noodles.

I like my honey badgers, but they definitely aren't the best all mountain ski and are fairly soft, so I don't know if they're what your looking for unless you're super light. I skied them on pretty variable terrain today and I still had fun though.

I think you would like the allplay, plus jlev is a legend and is worth supporting, especially during these times. J skis are also really nice quality skis and will last much longer than any of the other skis mentioned

does the shape and the detune of the magnus make them difficult outside of the park?

@Kaismall.loaf remember we also offer a 100% money back ski AFTER riding the ski. Get them in hand (you can buy with 0% financing and spend nothing up front) mount them and ride them for a couple of days. If you're not totally stoked on them after the first couple of days send them back for a full refund.

Not the shape necessarily, but if you just don't get the factory to detune, they will work fine.

90-96 is great for stability but you can definitly afford to get a 85-88 underfoot. think about the sidecut, carving into your corks woill feel amazing and this will save a bit of weight if you like a light settup.

If you center mount get a -4 or something so it feels like center mount but you still get a bunch of edge hold in the front, swing weight will be affected to little you wont be able to tell.

k2 sights are nice and stiff, but once you break in the noses you will butter like a god. they come in 169. but i warped the crap out of mine and now the are super rockered, effective edge decreased a lot because of this

Line blends. Its 100 underfoot so a bit wider than u were thinking but super nice and good in the park. Also they are pretty light so going with the 171cm lenght is pretty good for you.

J Ski all play is the best do it all ski, perfectly soft and stable, even rode it in a couple feet of pow. Also big fan of Vishnu Wide+

Op what are your east coast resorts? Will you be going west at all? 50/50 park/all mountain? Do you spend time off piste and in trees or moguls? Can you quantify your physical strength at all? Is this intended to be a one ski quiver? Can you already butter and press or are u just dragging noses? Do you procrastinate and wait for snow days or shred whenever?

Lot of good refs up top, but could really fine tune a rec for you with the above info, just wanna see skiers have fun!

Im in pgh , got a pair of 179 chronics, a touch big but could give you a feel for the full camber less playful chronic , I’m giving them away at the end of this year

i ski at sugarloaf. i probably ski 50/50 maybe a little more than that for all mountain and moguls and trees im not a super powerfull skier when it comes to butters really at all and in general when it comes to park but i would say im a powerfull skier outside of park. already been out 9 days this season so i would say im on the hill often. im definitely not a great park skier and ride pvc for the most part but im working on getting alot better this year since im working on a good set up for backyard. currently also considering surface snipers royales and giver if anybody knows anything on those.

Revolt 95s sound pretty spot on.
A couple months ago, I wouldn’t consider Völkl park skis but I picked up some Revolt 95s for a good deal and I’m skiing them at a tiny, icy resort.

They’re performing extremely well for me. They actually feel very lightweight when on my feet (which I didn’t expect), they carve very well, they are super fun in park, and I’m just really enjoying them. They press well too. A lot of skis I’ve ridden have a pretty obvious stiffening up point, but I don’t feel It as much on this ski. Plus, they’re pretty affordable. I’ve been very pleasantly surprised.

J Skis has a pretty killer deal though with 0% and free return. Think they offer like 20% off for industry people too (if you’re in it). Always wanted to try some Js, haven’t had the chance yet.
