gonna be a different season of course. Right now I think we are all in a similar spot as far as waiting for the home resort to open. I think my local is planning to open just before thanksgiving. When are you expecting yours to open up?
really looking forward to hiking some shitty setup. that's my favorite part of early season.
Mammoth opens tomorrow so that's sick. Local was supposed to open today but a bunch of employees got covid, puts into perspective how unpredictable things could be this season.
I'm going to wait and see how the various policies at ski areas play out. In the meantime I'll get out touring more, mostly mellow stuff. That may be the case for the entire season.
Was supposed to set up a rail at the og home mtn in ny but fizzled out. Got pretty warm too.
Hoping the real start goes well though. I think it's looking good but i know they're trying to get decent coverage before opening to spread people out. I cant wait to make some shitty turna and have the most fun on some small booter or baby rail. Opening day is fun as fuck regardless of conditions.
Was supposed to open Nov 28 (glacier was already open and had to close), but we got lockdown till at least dec 1st in France... Now hoping it will open as soon as the lockdown lifts.
My mtn in wny is supposed to open around thanksgiving with a nice little park 10 rails and other jobs or so. Hoping the temps keep dropping for some man made snow.
Moved to Scotland for work, waiting for the shipping container to show up with all of my equipment which is expected to arrive sometime around Christmas if everything goes right. Hope to ski Europe once these lock downs open up. I know, I should have packed them on the plane with me but we didnt have the space since we had to pack all of our main personal items into luggage. Wife, son and dog required some extra bags.
Spent weeks prepping, resort announced they would try to open earlier than normal, COVID spiked here big time, weather is not looking like ill be skiing until mid December it is disheartening but trying to be patient.
The weather last season blew and I won't be surprised if this season is the same. I'm not sure if Biden will cause any shut downs. This is my last season in the eastern mid west and I already have arrangements for moving west. If ski season folds I guess I'll go back to biking in the woods :P.
Drove to Big Snow for a week to fight withdrawals, been skiing every day this week at Keystone, got every weekday reserved next week. Gonna ski as much as possible before it gets closed down again.
Looks like the November opening we got used to in lower Michigan the last few years might not happen. Extended forecast only has one or two snowmaking nights in November. Right now I'm guessing it will be December 9 or 10 to open.

Damn didn’t know they locked down again in Europe, how are things over there? Is it blowing up again like in the US?
Home mountain is supposedly opening in a couple weeks but the weather in NC is not looking to promising. Reservation system is perfect you are not required to make a reservation if you have a pass
It's raining and like 60F here in NJ. The ocean is still quite warm too. Don't see snow happening anytime soon. Probably gonna be a repeat of last year where most of the hills around here can't even open all their lifts and terrain.
we'll see. UT is scheduled to open like next week or the week after but thats depending on if the governors state of emergency gets extended. im just excited to feel it all again and take everything in.
Not sure when the little hills in Ontario are going to open up. Should be getting some snow in a few days so I'll go set up a rail at the local sledding hill.
Big Sky opens on Thanksgiving, hoping to get at least 6 days in so I get my money's worth out of my pass. Planning on skiing each weekend in December until my blackout date around Christmas, since that puts me at 6 days. After that I'll probably go sporadically as the base gets better for touring and sled skiing. IDK, first time with a pass in a few years and I'm just not that jazzed about everything.
Bogus Basin has already gotten more snow than it had in late December last year. For some reason southern ID is getting the goods this year, cant complain
I'll be making the 2 hour drive over to Wolf Creek again this weekend. Trying to get as much lift service in before I have to get off my ass and "earn" my turns if they shut it down.
Preseason easing into the pool. Still trying to skate around a bit before the ice sets in.
Looking at a couple mellow options for the next couple weekends when I got my novice gal pals hanging out.
Building up a little 'broken plastic folding table dance floor' right off the skin track... backyard picnic table jib... maybe a chill low angle powsurf.
I'm kinda jonesing to slide a log.
Bummer bone zone ain't open.
Hit CO to get a little Breckenridge/ A basin in over the holidaze.
Then the resorts open, and I'm crossing my fingers for business as usual - with precautions of course. I pretty much plan my entire season out during the fall and am gonna try to make it happen to some extent.

Yup, sadly most of us are. Austria resorts wil open around the 17th, french and italian still want to open as early as possible after lockdown. Lockdown in France is pretty strict, they hit 82000 on their peak day about a week ago.
been doing some preseasoning in utah, heading back to Idaho pretty soon for my winter break. Utah's COVID numbers are pretty crazy right now so I'm actually excited to go back to Idaho where the numbers are less out of control, and they are currently getting dumped on.
The northeast can go either way right now I think. Cases are on the rise but the number of cases in VT and NH still isn't that big. Guess I'm gonna be skiing everyday as if it's gonna be my last.

Seems to me my Mt Bachelor will open Dec. 7th if I am not mistaken.
I'm not a hiker etc. so I will have to wait for a chairlift!
Best to you @-Dan and have fun!
What with there being a huge 2nd wave of the rona right now I have no idea when/if hills in Wisconsin are gonna open up. If they don't I'm not sure what to do, maybe try and put together a backyard rail setup, but I don't know if it will snow that much or if my parents are gonna have an issue with it. I've also never built a working lip/jump before so...
State of Michigan just threw down a list of what is open and what is closed for the next 3 weeks. No mention of ski resorts in either catagory. If we get favorable weather are we good to go or not? Nobody knows!
La Niña is looking like it’ll give a solid seasons dumping you the PNW. Unfortunately I’ve moved from Seattle to Phoenix for school...
AZ Snowbowl opens Friday somehow. 0 snow thanks to La Niña but it’s something to slide on. I already had the ronies a couple weeks ago so I’m ready to shred w them antibodies pumping. Can’t give and can’t get so might as well get on a lift. Must be nice to get to street ski... if this season falls through then I guess I’m turning my pass into soup and golfing my money away this winter.
