Shop Trouble

Brought my boots into my local shop in late September to get new toe plats in as th3ry were wearing down. Boots are Rossi All Speed 100, jusge me as you please. Long story short is the shop still has them and has not done anything with them. I have gone in a couple times to see what is up and get some story about shipping trouble from Europe every time. Last time they told me the part would be in in a few days. That was nearly two weeks ago. I've not been too pushy since I don't need the boots right now but will in a few weeks. Should I be cutting them some slack due to these claimed shipping issues or am I being feed a load of crap? I don't want to burn the bridge as they are the only shop in town but this is nuts to me.

Hmm, speaking as a shop tech that deals with this kind of stuff a lot, I'd say that they likely are having shipping problems (my shop has been for over three months). I can see how it's annoying, but I doubt the shop likes it either.

But speaking as a person that ordered replacement brakes for my Pivots over two months ago and still haven't gotten them, I'd say talk to the shop and make sure they know what happened, sometimes things just get forgotten.

I was hoping someone with shop experience would chime in. Thanks for the input. If I need to start instructing soon I might just grab them and drop the boots back off if/when the parts come in.

I'm sure I could but thought it would be wise to do the whole "support your local shop" thing. Finding out why I normally don't do that.

Wait you need new soles? Like the soles on the bottom of the boot are worn out?

if that’s the case, I doubt your shop is full of it. My shop is facing the same issue, we JUST got our K2 Mindbender alpine soles in last week (having ordered them last spring along with the corresponding boots) and we still don’t have our Lange alpine soles. Manufacturing is stupid behind this season so I doubt they’re BSing you

where are you located? seems slow, but this year has been weird as far as distributors getting product. that said, the allspeed has been out a while, seems like something that rossi would have in stock still in utah. curious why they kept your boots? they shouldn't need that to make an order.

yeah i don't doubt the story out of hand at all. OP i think you should just check in and say what you did to us, you're not looking to be annoying, you don't need them yet, but you would like an update because you are skiing soon

I would go pick up my boots and have them call you for an appointment when they get in. Seems like you should just be able to stop by once they have the part and get fixed up without having to leave your boots there. See if you can get the cell number and beer preference of your tech and get them to text you when it’s time for you to bring by more dank beer

I tried to order a dalbello bootboard through my shop and the factory sent over the wrong part 3 times till the shop and I just gave up. Maybe just go to europe if you really need it..?

I like to use a change in circumstance or upcoming deadline as the basis for my changing demand in a negotiation like this. I do this at work so I sound like less of an asshole to people. In this case it would be like, I had no problem waiting around all summer while the deadline kept getting pushed out but now ski season is about to start and I don’t have boots so that isn’t going to work for me.


Maybe they should have been more clear about their role as the middleman up front, I can understand why they would be like look we can’t really make these guys do anything.
