AGreen97Minimum din on the Pivot 15 is 6. It'll depend on your BSL and how hard you ski, but I think you'll be fine.
Alternatively, you could check out the Duke PT. Marker get's a lot of shade thrown at it but I honestly really like their recent stuff. The Duke PT essentially operates the same as the CAST system, and its alpine mode is essentially a Jester. The minimum din is 4 on the Duke PT 12 so you're well within the range. It's also cheaper than the P15 + CAST so you got that going for you too.
Less popular opinion but the Shift is a good binding. The Shift 10's minimum din is a 4 so they're all solid options.
EPfanboyReally because i think my din is 6 and thats the bottom of the p15 and i want them to be safe.
animatorI mean if you're in the range you're in the range.... if you wanna overthink it just a shift 10 or duke pt 12
PoubtvI'd go Duke or Shift, only because Cast has said that they've sold out until their 3rd production run in January.
Unfortunately, you wouldn't get your binding until ~January 20th.
Both are really great bindings, my preference being the Shift.
Definitely go to a shop near you and take a look at both bindings and how to operate them and find your preference.
I can also confirm your DIN around a 6, depending on BSL, so I'd look at a Shift 10 (4-10 din range), or the Duke 12 (4-12).
Unfortunately you may be paying slightly more for the Shifts and Dukes, however usually when you buy through a shop they mount for free saving you 50-100$.
AGreen97+1. It's really not bad for the binding if you're on the edge of the DIN range. Just be sure to get it tested from the shop so you know it's releasing when it's supposed to.
EPfanboyIm looking at getting some p15s for the cast system but I'm worried the din is to high for someone that is 55ish kgs and is 5’10, I’m an advanced skiier but i still fall and i want a binding that is going to eject me when i fall.
9tryI second this my bsl is 318mm
EPfanboyWhats your mondo size?
corkr900If you're worried, Look also makes din-12 and din-14 pivots. Generally you want your din to be close to the middle of the available range, so if you ride at 10+ then definitely the 15s, 8-10 get the 14s, 7-9 get the 12s. Personally, I set my dins at about 8.5-9 (significantly lower than most people would; I'm 6'0 and 220 lbs and ski very aggressively) but have never once ejected when I felt like I shouldn't have. Pivots are the best that way
AGreen97Can't install CAST on a Pivot 12 or 14 unfortunately.
animatorIn theory if you had a spring from a 12/14 Pivot, the Cast Freetour kit, and the housing of a 15/18 Pivot, you could do the Cast conversion, and instead of reinstalling the 15/18 spring in the toe, you could install the 12/14 spring instead? This is horrible advice so don’t do it but theoretically it’s possible I think?
AGreen97I hadn’t ever considered that but I have a feeling the spring in the 12/14 is a different size than the 15/18. By that logic you could use the spring from an NX/SPX 12 and I just don’t want to believe that lol. But who knows, I could be totally wrong.
