Cast is considered a holy binding because of how revolutionary they were and still are.

Theres tons of threads comparing cast to shifts and now the new duke PT.

the take away is basically cast is awesome, you are supporting a small company instead of whatever huge corporations own the other companies.

the pros:
super reliable. Ski just like a look pivot. Spare parts are all available on the website should you lose or break a single piece. Second ski kits are under $100 and you just need a second pair of of pivot heels and now you have multiple touring skis.

cons: they are heavy since they only work with a pivot 15 or 18. The minimum din is 6 on the p15 which is too high for some people. Theres the chance you lose the removable pieces. Mounting is a little tricky. They sell out every year.

Overall it’s probably the most trustworthy option for touring to really gnarly lines, or if you only do small tours occasionally and want a binding thats super solid inbounds. Or if you do small side country tours off of resorts.

If you ski hard and and like pivots get the cast setup. Been riding cast for 3 years now never going to ride a different set up, have toe plates and brake locks on two sets of skis and swap the toe pieces between them. Its sick. Get cast. They fucking rock and you will not regret it. Now they are compatible with the new p15 because it has the full metal toe piece so way more skiers will be able to use their true din in it too. Its seriously the sickest touring setup out there for charging hard

If you already have a pair of Metal pivots its a no brainer. But there are other options if you're getting a touring setup.

Just got the system this fall, the first couples uses have been amazing! If you transition a lot while touring the cast system can be pretty time consuming vs frames or pins.

I've used them for a whole season. It's a great system. Ease of pins on the way up. Confidence of downhills on the way down. I ski them in resort without hesitation. The only cons are the pivot brakes are a bit annoying to tour with when they're locked because they're still on the side and transitions take a little longer cause you have to take apart everything. Overall 9/10 highpy recommend.

I just got mine in the mail, they seem super bomber. Gonna mount em up tonight and use them on saturday when we get the first real snow of the year

I'll evaluate the conditions when I get up there, can always bail on the tour and just hit rails. The skis they are on are pretty beater. I also got 1 spinner on a heel mounting them up, I put a bunch of epoxy sawdust mix in the hole to rebuild it and put the screw in, I'm gonna crank it down a little bit once it cures and hopefully it'll bite.
