Boycott Lesh? Vote to stop buying Virtika Gear

Seeing as though we are Virtika's main target for sales, is anyone else sick of Lesh trying to be cool? As newschoolers members, I think it's our responsibility to stop supporting this brand. Based on the other thread, it seems like most of NS is in agreement that they don't support his decisions. Also, team riders (Trent) have asked Lesh to take them off of his website and he refuses to do so.

Never liked Lesh, he's just a shitty guy, and a shitty pilot. But I did buy a pair of virtika bibs this spring when they were $99, and I gotta say they're pretty great. I'd like to buy a pair from a better company some day, but when yer broke, pants are pants.

My 2 cents:

Gear is quality, I can attest to that, also, Lesh isn't a trust funder, came from very little money. Is he a bit of an asshat, yeah, for sure, I don't know him personally, but he definitely pisses a lot of people off. Him and Spriggs were beefing on the gram recently, and I'd definitely take Sprigg's side over Lesh's, that said, as a tall person, he makes superb tall people gear.

I always was cool with his "fuck vail" shit and the keystone jump was sick etc... but yeah he literally only ever does anything for attention, I mean how bored and egocentric do you have to be to reply to every hate DM on your account and post it on your story, that's so lame it hurts. I liked that he didn't give a fuck about what people thought about him, but that's clearly not true anymore since he takes everything so personally. It is funny how pissed people get about a lil turd in a huge lake though, I mean come on there's so much animal poop in there anyways whats the difference (its a principal thing blah blah blah) people just have to stop giving this guy attention. That was a watershed and human feces can carry a lot of disease. The Arapaho Glacier area in Boulder, CO's watershed is completely blocked off for recreational travel because too many people shit there a hundred years ago and there was a cholera outbreak. That area would be an awesome spring/summer ski.

Interestingly enough, cholera can kill people in a matter of hours because of watery diarrhea. So yeah, don't poop in watershed supplies or they may close it off so you can't have fun there anymore.

My Volcom jacket I bought last season is super water proof. My buddy got a pair of pants from them, same thing. I think Im gonna snag a pair or bibs from them this year and I'll be cruising on them shitty days.

years ago I actually bought virtika gear cuz of how the cheap the preorder was. and I agree, the pants were super warm and pretty decent quality. However, its just like Peyben was saying in the level 1 podcast how you should vote with your money, regarding which brands you choose to support. virtika/lesh doesn't represent what im about, nor does it represent what i think skiing should be about

Sometimes it does, sometime it doesn't. Usually first generational wealth is a sign of character because the person who created that wealth was disciplined, hard-working, and socially well-adjusted, whereas, wealth that trickles downward tends to stunt the development of character for those that inherit it like Dave. Lesh is a straight up whore. He'll do anything for attention even if its the destruction of his own character and self-image. He's got enough bad energy being sent his way that there's going to be consequences for him eventually. Wouldn't be surprised if he ends up in jail or worse some crazy person whose had enough of his shit tracks him down and kills him. He'd be a good target for eco-terrorist.

I agree on the trust fund thing. If you listen to that episode and believe him, it's pretty obvious he doesn't have a trust fund.

That being said, I think he's super hypocritical. He hates on Vail for a number of reasons, one being that they are ruining national forest to build ski lodges. Meanwhile he's out here getting banned from forests because he can't act like a decent person.

Honestly he's just one of those guys that seems like he has a severe amount of insecurity and feels like the need to be anomolous for the sake of being different. He obviously thrives on people talking shit about him. It's like the Trump complex. He loves to be loved by his base, and thrives on the hate he gets.

Honestly I was a fan of Lesh and Virtika up until the wannabe Instagram influencer thing that’s been going on the past few years. I dug the no f*cks given attitude and loved the last Friday video stuff. I thought Lesh was trying to keep it core.

But trying to become some kind of Bilzerian Instagram dude has just killed me. WTF does Dan Bilzerian and his harem of 19 year old girls have to do with the ski industry?? Not sure promoting yourself/brand with those people gets any less core than that.

He litterally is the kid trying to be as annoying as possible. Hanging lake went permit only because of douchebags like him and he still had to go fuck with it just to get attention.

I like the random ignorant tourist that does something a lot more than him deliberately being an asshole to get some attention.

Boycotting anything is completely fine. I don't agree with trying to shut someones business down because you don't like them. He's a piece of shit though and I think any hate he gets is deserved. I mean, he intentionally did each thing to piss people off, stir the pot, and get attention so anything negative is his own fault.

Sucks that they're are people like him out there. "I'm fucking up nature but people noticed me. Somebody talked about me yea!"

I actually discovered Virtika because I had some ideas for jackets and saw them on his gear. So I thought he was super innovative when I first stumbled across Virtika. This was probably 1-2 years post-FD. I then discovered the brand image. Took a second to stomach the destroying of a good brand with stupid marketing - but then I realized what the niche was (still think he could have tapped a much stronger market if his Target demographic wasn’t so juvenile - most people will eventually outgrow that “lifestyle”).

I finally bought some Virtika gear ~3 years after I discovered them. Super cheap $150 insulated shere khan jacket. Except, they sent me a shere khan pant. After contacting them - they promised to deliver shere khan jacket, pay for return shipping, and add a t shirt. They never paid for return shipping, the jacket was way smaller than I expected (size M - which I am that size across 99.9% brands), and the t shirt shrunk immediately.
After being so excited for Virtika, my first impression was “this jacket feels fucking CHEAP”.



Everyone talking about how cheap Virtika is - honestly, just talk to a friend with a pro deal hook up. So many people have them and you can get TNF, HH, MH, etc. for the same price. All your resort homies (especially PSIA) have these deals. Don’t let them hold out on you.

Anyways, that’s a reformed Virtika fanboy’s 2 cents.

Also, I agree. The Dan Bilzerian thing is stupid. After the immediate “wow that’s Dan bilzerian”, it was obvious what David was doing.

I came here to say this. Unfortunately, one of my buddies fell in the hype trap and the crotch of his pants blew out on the first day. Then, the replacements Lesh sent out were literally missing the zippers.
