Why are men so threatened by Sierra?

LonelyI think people are just not a fan of the hypocrisy. The preaching about how we are destroying the world through our consumerism while also flying all over the world to resorts and retreats and generally living a lavish lifestyle that most of us could only dream of really rubs people the wrong way. I think the whole "I'm singlehandedly emitting more carbon than 40 people a year but it's okay cuz I'm changing the world by posting on insta" puts a bad taste in people's mouth.

Yung_GnarleyFor me it's the fact she made a documentary about herself while have no skiing legacy. It's one thing for T-Hall or Candide to do that. But they're.....T-Hall and Candide. I guess I wish she did more skiing and less content creation. I'm sure she's a super nice person, I just don't have love for her as a skier. Notice how Angel Collinson, Kaya Turski, Brooke Potter, and Tatum never got hated on for "doing their thing"? It's cuz their "thing" was skiing.

I'd prefer if brands looked at girls who shred more than girls who take pics but hey we've all got value and that value comes down to who generates more $$$ (giving a ski bum free skis doesn't translate to brands making more money if they haven't got some sort of influence)

r00kieThing is there are a ton of girls who are more involved in the ski industry for that whether it be comps and movie parts more and more that last couple years. Sierra is NOT a pro skier, she is an influencer and if we are being honest probably does much better in terms of revenue and audience going that route. I don't get this rant you're on. Like this community has played a big part in hyping up women in freestyle skiing by watching comps and hyping up movie parts.

5AvalancheOkay but here's where I have beef. Was she ever trying to be like Tatum Monod or Angel Collinson? People seem to have this belief that she only deserves respect If she is always doing rad things. Well, guess what? She also works as a model most of the time. She isn't just one thing - no woman is.

Don't hate the player hate the game. Content creation is how a lot of people make money. And if she can market the ski industry to her following, then brands will find value in that. I'm out here buying a sled, did the whole freeride comp thing, now trying to film and I have no hate on her for doing what she's doing - even if she's getting paid and I'm not.

I think people expect her to only be a pro skier to be respected, but in reality, she is a lot of different things and skiing might not necessarily be her priority all the time but it's something she does better than most whether people like it or not.

I really don't understand why they feel so strongly about her when she is simply doing her own thing? I have seen so many bash her in comments over the years and would love to know what the root of this is.

I watched her documentary a few years back and she has been through so much. Seems like a great person, and she's a solid skier. Am I missing something? Because it feels like a very one-sided argument

animatorI don’t really care personally but I see where a lot of people are coming from. She really pushes the whole “save the environment” pitch but she’s a 1 percenter with millions of dollars. Most professionals granted travel a whole lot too but most of them are flying commercial and don’t have that much money. They ski because that’s what they love and this girl just uses it to appeal to a wider audience. There’s a HUGE difference between a skier, and someone who skis. She can do whatever she wants but the whole MSP argument and the Steve Stepp thing was stupid IMO, she was trying to be all SJW to make herself look “woke” or whatever.
