Ive recently started really investing in a wristwatch collection since I kinda need them for work/theyre rad.
Mechanical toys are pretty fun to look at.

Don’t even talk to me about fine watches sweaty
DingoSeanPicked up one of these off aliexpress for 99$ with a seico 6r35 movement. They claim 300m wr with the case, but who knows... in any case I worn it in a rainstorm and it didnt die.. and ive worn it in the shower a bunch of times since and its still going so seems alright!
Craw_DaddyNice I definitely appreciate a classic flieger dial. I really dig some of the simpler stuff from Avi-8 if you've heard of them. I've been skiing with my seiko for the past month. It only has 30m wr but I haven't had any problems so far

StainrNice.
StainrNice.
BiffbarfMy dumbass broke the crystal. I'd love to get it fixed one day,
DingoSeanDude Hamiltons are sick.
Get that crystal fixed, It shouldnt cost you very much at all to do it... like 50-75$ usually.
BiffbarfNo way that cheap? I was thinking it would be a mutli-hundred dollar endeavour. I'm not a boujee guy and have been thinking all this time I just couldn't afford to wear a nice watch. I'll have to get serious about getting it fixed!!

iRide1080sI admittedly didn’t read everything before posting so I just went back through and saw the king Seiko you picked up in Tokyo. Those hi beat movements are wild. Do you roughly what year it is?
I’ve owned two orients and gifted a bambino. All punch above their weight in fit and finish except for the garbage leather straps they use. I haven’t personally had my hands on a bracelet but I would imagine it’s similar quality level.
SavageBiffGot a seiko, tag, Bulova collection and a few citizens for work, used to really like watches, not so much now, if someone asks me the time I habitually look at my phone anyway.
cadebucketFor fucks sake would it kill you to aline the bezel?
BiffbarfI own a decent (i think?) hamilton my uncle gave me as a graduation gift. My dumbass broke the crystal. I'd love to get it fixed one day, but it's been sitting in a drawer for years because I'm obviously an idiot who can't have nice things.
My gf said she wants to get me a watch for my bday and I'm stoked to start wearing one and hopefully impulsively use my phone less. Can't wait to see what she comes up with

ElcheapoIronically I was just reading an article about altimeter watches ,those too expensive for me but nice. I did find this one that looks good for 220$

Started my collection a couple months ago. I'd like to add a diver next and then maybe a chronograph after that
DolansLebensraumBased, but if this was my collection i would only wear the silver bracelet one.

Really cool Soviet era Vostok. ordered a new movement for it because it doesn't run very well. Was thinking about putting it on a green nato strap.
My new Vostok amfibia. Absolutely in love with this watch. Got the bezel on ebay.
$20 submariner homage. Pretty good for the price but its a little too big, I think I'm going to sell it and get a San Martin.
My first and probably my favorite mechanical watch. Soviet Era Raketa. I got lucky and snagged this one on ebay for 7 bucks.

DolansLebensraumI feel like buying a soviet watch is like buying an american car from the soviet era.
DingoSeanIts like buying a Volvo from the 1980s. Guaranteed to work, tough as shit enough to have been passed down through a whole family of teenage drivers, cheap enough that if it does fail, you can just get another, or repair it by hitting it hard with a hammer, and somehow still super classy despite its spartan design.

DolansLebensraumIf you want an altimeter watch just save up a little more and get a tissot t touch. When i was in switzerland with my family my parents were busy asking all sorts of ppl what these watches were that all these swiss ppl were wearing and they all said they were tissot watches. Apparently 9/10 swiss citizens wear a tissot and switzerland is the mecca of watchmaking and always has been. So that tells you something about the quality of tissot watches.
the tissot t touches are also cool as fuck. The minute and hour hands detach and move around to give you readings of altitude, relative and barometric air pressure, compass, stopwatch,
They were 400$ back around 2010 but now they are around 1000$.
still a good value imo, but it seems the swiss money printing staff havent been boofing bath salts like the autists in the us federal reserve
DolansLebensraumbattery change needed every 4 days notwithstanding
DingoSeanIve been itching for a classic amphibia for a while... Id love to modify one with a pilot style dial. My only complaint about them is how far they stick out off the wrist.
And that is a score for that Raketa... any of those old Raketas, Luchs, Poljots, and Sekondas are actually pretty awesome. Have you seen the Raketa 24hr or the Luch one hand? theyre a lot like yours in size, but only one hand!
I have a Sekonda Automatic abot that same size that unfortunately doesn't keep good time at all, but I love how svelte and thin it is. I cant tell you how many people have been enamored with it when they see what it is. Id love to get one of these to replace it with.. Russian/Soviet watches are fun as fuck.
liquidity_friskMy modest collection:
Thinking about adding a Seiko or an orient to the collection next.
DrZoidbergAll you need. Although I usually only surf with it and don't wear a watch on the regular.
gorbdawggybrentWhat is the model of this one, I wanna buy
BiffbarfGf got me this lil guy for my bday. Nothing super boujee but I dig it and have been wearing it every day.
I took my hamilton into a service center and they said it is so old that it needs to be sent to hamilton direct to see if they even have parts. If not, they'll try to offer an exhange. Kinda curious what that may be.
MiIfHunterThat’s nice. Did I eat her ass for giving u that nice gift?
