EPfanboyUnsure if this got posted but the Atomic maverick similar to the bc with the horizon tip
At this point I think the majority of Atomic skis have that “HRZN” tip, including their skimo skis. Personally I’m still in the “can’t hurt, might help a little bit” camp on that.
anders_abut very light? do they have any power to them?
The listed weights look off to me. I have a hard time believing three different width skis are the exact same weight, to the gram. Looks like an intern goof. Will check on Monday.
haha yeah true. Acutally, I am filling up our new product database right now with all the new stuff for next season.
The proper page to have a look at the new skis is this one: https://prime-skiing.de/tag/produktneuheiten-2022-ski/
Lots of products are already live but I am still working on some stuff, so expect some errors from time to time.

@tomPietrowski the lineup looks amazing! Interesting take on the power strap. What was the reasoning behind doing it with the hook instead of the standard “booster” style?

There isn’t a design I don’t love. Those sammys are 🔥
Glad you guys are liking these. They all came out so strong.
the powerstrap change is small but it was done to make it easier to use and also lighter. It’s called the G-Hook. It’s like a quick release. You loosen the g-hook and you can slip the front section of the powerstrap off. When you want to tighten it you slip the g-hook back through the powerstrap and pull the webbing which goes through the g-hook. So you never need to thread the webbing through like you did the cam system before making it quicker and also way easier to use in gloves. It’s lighter too as a bonus but functions basically the same as the cam strap so you can get all the same power and hold you could before .
Let me know if you guys have any other questions on the lineup. Not seen my favorite boot yet the alternative kicker

I'm in a Tecnia boot and really like the hook style.
Was the SC ascendant a grilamid shell before? Or is that a new thing to make it lighter?

The sc is not a grilamid shell. Sammy does not want that he wants the durability so that is why we use TPU on his boot rather then grilamid which is used on the approach model.
I was on a call with him last week and he showed me the boots he has been in for the past year and they are holding up amazingly considering what he is doing to them. So no plans to change what is working.

Slowbrowhy do people feel inclined to put random japanese on things. you wouldn't write "aim for the bottom of the hill" on a topsheet in english lmao
Actually, this is exactly the type of thing I'd write on a ski in english. Many of the Line & FT products I've designed have sarcastic or non sequitur text on them. My favorite examples of this are on Tom's pro models. One of his boots says "Keep upright on landing ↑" and his 2022 ski has labeled sections that say "Place sponsor sticker here".
When the designer who worked on this graphic told me what the Japanese text said, I thought it fit Line's brand humor perfectly.
However, I do think there should be a discussion around how the Japanese characters themselves are used in this design. It's definitely hacky to simply slap Japanese on a graphic and call it a day. Often times Japanese culture is fetishized in American streetwear and that is something I try to avoid. Was it done 100% successfully in this case? Probably not. The designer crushed it on this graphic though and I still think the characters work in context.
Abstract typography is one of my favorite devices to use in design. The issue with using Japanese characters is that they are already "abstract" to a westerner — this sets the trap for putting less thought into the design because one thinks the work has already been done for them. I don't think this was the case on the Chronic but ultimately that's not for me to say.
If there are any Japanese NS'rs, I'd love to hear your thoughts on this.
Mr_pretzelAsian streetwear uses random English words and sentences just the same these days.
It's an interesting relationship. There are tons of thrift stores & boutiques in Tokyo that focus on Americana. I was surprised by all the shops playing dad rock and selling LL Bean or Kiss tour shirts.
