Carl_the_LlamaAnother year another no Black Ops 108 :(((
While it's not coming for 21/22, I've confirmed they've been working on protos and some of their folks have been testing them this year. They said rona was the main reason they couldn't get it ready for 21/22.
Kbob94Got the new krypton 130 TI boot in! Damn this boot is badass!!!! The wider power strap is soo killer
I still fail to understand where tech fittings and no walk mode make sense... short tours that aren’t flat I guess? If anyone has a decent explanation please enlighten me because it seems like a cool boot, I just don’t get why you wouldn’t buy like, the Lupo Pro HD if you wanted a burly touring boot? Is it because their walk modes are constantly breaking?

Because a lot of the pros add the krypton cuff to the lupo bottom, it skis better and tours fine for short machine accessed stuff. Plus they aren’t making a version without the fittings, probably and easy change to offer.

This!!!! As someone who skis in the lupo pro as my only boot this is the greatest thing ever! I can still rip all my skis including the ones with the kingpins inbounds and save my lupos for the long touring days and it saves the liner too.

Because CAST is a thing. They've been doing custom tech-toe mods for years, it seems boot companies took note that there was enough of an interest to make some of their own.
Onenerdykid may have better ideas about how much more complicated the manufacturing is, but if I had to guess, it probably doesn't change enough for them to be averse to the idea.
Its not as simple as you would think actually. Unless a shell was designed to be built with tech inserts and can use sliders to remove them its not a simple process to add a tech insert. I looked into doing it on the FTS shell but its not possible.
It is possible on k2 boots though....

I stand corrected then.
I wonder if the similarities between the Krypton and Lupo series helped though.

That’s what I was thinking. Since the lower is exactly the same shape and size etc it would seem that would make perfect since to just start using the lupo lower for the krypton and then the only difference would be the name printed on it
That is exactly why they can do it. It’s like the recon and mindbender, we use the same lower mold and use sliders to make the differences.

is the lupo cuff actually that bad??? looks like the lupo cuff is a closer fit and would drive the ski really well... especially that carbon one...
CatdickBojanglesAwesome. Really curious on the power switch on the Salomon STH 16. Wondering how that will hold up and how it will actually ride.
I agree, the STH2 is a fantastic binding for hard skiing and I’m curious as to the benefits versus the potential weak points that a mechanism like that can create

It’s not that it’s a bad cuff it just makes that it’s a stronger skiing boot and since it’s got the wrap liner that makes it even stiffer and more high performance.

So if the PU cuff is what the pros wanted, what was wrong with the walk mode & cuffs from the SP Lupos from several years back? Did those still not ski as strong or same as a regular KR cuff that doesn’t have the walk mode?
The krypton does have an adjustable forward lean angle and has or at least used to have a stiffening wedge you could put in the back. Neither of which you could do with the lupo cuff.

As Tom said, unless tech inserts & a corresponding grip pad interface are in the mold to begin with, it's almost impossible to put them in afterward.
Can somebody tell look to re-do the orange pivot 18s? I don’t think there is a ski out there that those didn’t match with, the forza 2.0 only looks good on like 5% of skis.
the forza 2.0 is impossible to match to skis for sure, only ski that can rock it is the menace 98 19/20 and 20/21
the HH pivot will match a ton of skis, I've seen the press release stuff and the CT 2.0 2021 would be fire with it, probably 2020 poachers and a ton of others.
.nastyLook just needs to make those custom bindings an actual thing, I'd pay a bit extra (within reason) for a customized binding.
I’m not sure how hard it would be, but you could def just hydro dip your own pivots. No reason you couldn’t as long as you mask and cover any thing important or partially take it apart.

Actually you have to tell Rossi that because the orange ones were the rebranded ones from them.

Oh you bet. Just seems to me they are going hard on the marketing for the aesthetics of their bindings and it could be a new avenue for them. The logistics are harder I'm sure but who knows!

the forza 2.0 works really well with the magnus 90 2021
Fresh kicks arrived yesterday. Liner is of the softer variety, is that normal for Dalbello alpine boots these days? I seem to remember the Krypton 130 coming with a more high density intuition a la Power Wrap. Either way I'm hyped on these 🤟

I've got a pair of 18/19 Krypton 130s and did notice the same; Krypton 130 liners looking thicker and softer starting this season, much like the Il Moros.
How soft are talking here, like Full Tilt's Pro Wrap liner soft?
My 18/19 liners felt rock hard and pretty goddamn painful until heat molding. Much less painful afterwards, but still very firm and responsive, so the softer liners make feel a bit hesitant (even though mine still have a lot of life left). These boots have been working so well for me that any changes make me nervous haha.

look at logan pehota's instagram story there is a twin tip wide ski with a yellow base
Dynastar 21/22 - as described earlier/above, sadly no new sizes for 108/118
Lange 21/22 - XT3 Pro Tour comes in three models - 130, 110, 100
Rossignol skis 2022 - key take away: no new BlackOps Gamer/Holyshred in-between sibling, still being prototyped apparently (as confirmed earlier in this thread) - late release?
direct link to the Korean shop that is posting all these.

What happened to your lupos that they gave you the kryptons?
