cydwhitAgreed. Their "touring" line makes so little sense to me, and every time they change a boot up a little I can't help but roll my eyes a little and ask "So what?"
SessionMaybe one day they will swing away from the deluge of "touring boots" that people buy and don't actually tour in.
OhJayDalbello updated their shell back in 2013 starting with the KR2 Pro, so as long it's a Krypton/Il Moro model after 2013 I'm pretty sure the cuffs are all the same and will work.
DingoSeanSometimes I wish companies would just keep making the same boot but tweaking it and perfecting it... Im not too impressed with the concept of the new Cochise...
PU lower, but Polypropaline upper? Thats going to be annoying as hell to punch, not to mention the fact that it generally sucks to ski. Im not sure what grade of PP this is, but at least in my experience, most polypropalines are mediocre in ski boots and have bad energy transfer characteristics...
I guess They saved like 100-150g per boot, but thats also really not much in the grand scheme of things... Its still heavier than other boots in its class - including other technica group boots like the Nordica Striders which use a Triax "carbon" blend. Why not just stick with having it be this burly PE/PU boot for the 50/50 guys, or those who want a strong ass boot they can tour with, and put the weight weenies on the ZeroG? or at least use a better cuff plastic.
Eh. Maybe Im overthinking it.. but Im such a fan of the old boot.
FruitBootProWait, Sean Pettit is skiing again?
teamdummyPettit skis twice a year and K2 backs a dump truck full of money up to his front door( I have no idea if that’s true)......and Seth Morrison is out there daily, hiking and ripping backcountry lines and posting photos on IG on white painted blank skis. I’m not saying Seth necessarily deserves a pro model at his age. But if I’m K2, I’d be god damned sure every pic of him is on the latest K2 ski. I assume we’ll never see that again though.
.nastySeth got fed up with the industry, bailed on all his sponsors and just lives tucked away in Irwin now. When I rode the lift with him in CB I asked him what skis he was on and he just said "the ones I fuckin bought" in a salty yet joking manor hahaha
onenerdykidMcConkey used to call him Oscar The Grouch
onenerdykidThere are a lot of 130-120-110 boots this year that use a PU shell and a PP cuff. It honestly surprises me every time and I can't believe companies get away with it. Every plastic has its pros & cons, but the list of cons associated with PP is just too long to put into high-end, 130-level boots.
animatorYou fucking tell em Matt

cobra_commanderMan bashing product we haven’t skied based on perceptions. Is this TGR?
having skied most of not all of the “130” crossover and touring boots back to back in a variety of conditions I think many with a PP cud ski better than some with a PA or PU cuff....

onenerdykidTheir durability won't be though. The scratch/cut resistance of PP is so bad that these boots develop gouges on the inside of their cuffs simply from gliding over the PU shell while in walk mode.
Make a PA boot or make PU boot. Leave the PP for kid's boots. It has no business on a $700+ boot
FruitBootProwait, I thought ski boots were made with gfrp. pu is polyurethane?
evo.comAlright folks, we've got our 2022 Gear Preview live here
https://www.evo.com/discover/ski/gear-preview
We got as many brands in here as we could, but some are harder to get than others, the small brands especially.
Kbob94It fills just perfectly. The only difference between a krypton and lupo is the rear cuff.
BigPurpleSkiSuitLove the leftmost one, love the Bdog. The 2 in the middle left I'm definitely giving a grade of who the fuck authorized that bizzare eyesore.

FrallanAre you able to share the bases of on the bent chetlers?
JaquinGuzmanI can't be the only one who's stoked on the DPS Koala 103. Im bummed at what they are doing to the 119 because that in a 189 has been my go to pow ski at CB and it looks like they are turning into a noodle with a 4 meter turn radius. But the new 103 looks super interesting.
TurnfarmerWhatever happened to Fulltilt project X? Nothing on Evo link.
animatorI haven’t skied the older Koala 119 but I did get on the new 103 and 118 and can wholeheartedly endorse the line. Stupid fun skis, especially for a brand that puts out meme-worthy stuff. I also skied the new Pagoda construction (next season there will be Foundation, Pagoda and Pagoda Tour, instead of Foundation, Pagoda Piste and Pagoda Tour) 106 C2 and it fucking ripped. Call me an old man but I had a ton of fun on them
CatdickBojanglesNext season sadly. Waiting on someone to slip up and leak it. *cough* @tomPietrowski *cough*
Mr_pretzelCan you compare the 118 to anything?
The old 119 was a charger

stickypenAwesome. Do you guys have pics of Faction's prodigy line? What about the bases of Nordica's Enforcers?

TwigBoot development takes a long time. Don't hold your breath because it will be '22-23... at the earliest. I remember skiing an Ascendant proto at least a couple of years before it hit the market.
tomPietrowskiAs twig says it takes time to make perfection. You guys need to be patient. It will be worth it, Promise.
BigPurpleSkiSuitI just realized, there's a Salomon boot lineup with no S max. Is Salmon discontinuing that boot lineup? Cause that's the only boot I've found that really works with my foot.
TwigAdded to the description but they are different. The 2.0 and 3.0 get a paulownia/poplar core, the 5.0 get's an 'air poplar' core which seems to be to do with the milling.

sirdankswervesSo the ct 2.0 is being updated again already? Is the flex softening back up?

severniyIs it going to favor skinny ankles and narrow feet crowd?!
BradFiAusNzCoCaI’m getting the impression that I’m the only one who likes the new ARVs
