I worked there as a lifty and then on ski patrol. One thing I can say is if you don't have housing by now, just plan to live in your car or don't bother. You can try to get on the staff housing wait list, but I wouldn't count on it. Also it's kind of a rip off - you pay $650 a month (that was 4 years ago don't know what it is now) for a shared bedroom, and the housing staff are Nazis that will kick your ass to the curb for the smallest offense.

Now all that said, if you do have a place to crash, it's a super fun town, and the mountain is amazing (as long as it snows). In your case having already bought your pass, I would recommend looking for a job in town that will let you ski when you want vs. slaving away for the mountain and not getting much guaranteed ski time. Finding a place to live is always tough, this year will be much harder. Especially employee housing type situations. Good luck. Depends on your funds. Working remote could be fun though, just might be worth looking into other places that are less popular.

There’s a chance I might have a place to stay depending on a few variables, mainly if my friend is able to hook me up or not. Otherwise like I said I’m definitely open to other places as well. Just trying to take advantage of the opportunity. Not at all opposed to other ski town jobs either, just throwing ideas at the wall

I've lived here in Mammoth for 8 years and I really enjoy it. I was only supposed to be here for one season. Summers are even better than winter. Super fun parks, longest season, lots of good backcountry, and the storms are stupid and can drop 3-4 feet easy. They are not as often or fluffy as Wyoming/Montana/Idaho but it's still pow. Open container law in town and free public transportation if you don't have a car. I feel well treated in my career and there is room for opportunity in the company depending on which department you land in. Housing is a bitch, but I feel you will find this in most resort areas. Mammoth just opened up more employee housing in Bishop and runs a daily shuttle. Not ideal but still an option. 45+ minutes down the highway and not a ski town vibe. You get a pass when you work for the resort = refund on your pass. Mammoth is fun.

If you are thinking about it just do it. Apply now, if you are going to work for the resort I would suggest looking at bellhop at the hotels. Doesn't require experience, tips and you will ski more than on mountain work. I worked in F&B for 4 years if you have any questions shoot me a message.

I think it is more of a unwritten enforcement by the police then a law. I can vouch that I have spoken to police in town with a open beer.

I was in talks about a 6 figure job there that pulled out of because there is no housing. Like absolutely none. Doesn’t matter your price range, there is none.
