DIY ski shapes

So Burton has a diy snowskate/powsurf that you can buy and shape yourself. It already has a rocker profile built in. What if a ski company pressed some rectangular planks with a relatively generic rocker profile so you could DIY them? You'd have to stack them when you cut and make sure both sidecuts are the same but otherwise it should be pretty cool if you can make a ski of a shape you want without needing your own factory.

I dont think you thought this thru - snowskates dont have edges, skis do lol. Also i cant see any scenario where they wouldnt delam lmao

yep you're right I forgot about edges. Idk why the burton one wouldn't delam as well tho then

because its a snowskate - ive personally had boards delam but its pretty rare even though theyre slamming against concrete 24/7, snowskates dont undergo that much stress so i can see why it works

Libtech used to make a DIY board with edges I’m pretty sure. Think it requires a lot of tools but the idea was sick.

I think the hardest part is having two skis and making sure they’re the same

That Burton DIY Pow surfer got dragggged on the snowboard meme pages for being a ridiculous item tho. Pretty sure they were charging like around 2k for a plank of wood with some griptape.

I'm gonna try to make a pair of edgeless rail skis for as cheap as humanly possible. Probably gonna start by tracing an existing ski and maybe make some slight shape changes. Will update with results.

My best friend has a plastics company with a CNC router and why tf have I never thought about this before lol
